IDEAL for the intended purpose!
If you have windows that have been painted shut, this tool is THE thing to use. Brilliant design, well-built, indispensable. DO NOT try to use a box cutter type utility knife (unless you also ordered a huge box of bandages with it). Get this tool, and be amazed at how quickly and easily you'll be able to saw through that old paint. I would have been lost without this one. Thank you!!!

Perfect tool
This is the perfect tool to cut between the window frame and the insulated glass unit. The blade of the tool is very thin with serrated edges and cuts the glazing tape easily, much easier than I thought it would cut the glazing tape. The tool fits easily between the window And the window frame gently glide the tool around the window perimeter to cut the glazing tape and remove an insulated glass unit.Highly recommended

Good Product & Close to Great
After reading several reviews on this tool I was hesitant to purchase it but I am glad I did. My parents ranch style home which was built in 1979 came with Anderson Windows which seemed to be top of the line at the time. Jump forward 20 years my parents installed a central air system in their home and opening & closing of these windows came to a halt. 19 years and probably 5 coats of paint later my parents central air system kicked the bucket in the middle of July and my parents decided they wanted to open the windows up again.Without this tool there is no way I would have been able to cut & saw through the paint which had been built up over the years. This tool is thin enough yet strong enough to get between the window frame and the casing to allow the paint to be cut away where I could open the window. My only complaint is the rivets which hold the cutting head on the handle seem to be a little weak. After opening 12 windows with this tool I could see stress fractures on one of the rivets and I am sure it would break if I had many more windows to do.I would recommend this product to anyone who is in a similar situation that I was in. This tool would most likely be able to do a couple houses but for a professional handyman I don't see this tool lasting forever. This tool was worth the money I spent on it!!!

I'm just sorry I didn't order this sooner!
This thing is a lifesaver! I have spent whole days on windows, trying to get them unstuck so I can sand and paint. This thing just zips right through the old stuckness and the window move. One suggestion - be sure to do this before you paint. I had already painted a couple of windows part way and this messed up the new paint when I unstuck the windows with this tool - it does rip through layers of old, hard paint after all. So I had to paint again - no big deal. It was worth it!

Worked great on old caulk and paint stuck window
i have owned 2 old houses and have opened many paint/caulk stuck windows with a razor knife. this worked much better and did less damage to the wood as you can lay the blade flat against the side of the window and rock the tool into the paint sealed crack. (also safer than using razor knife when you have to use a lot of force). the long handle allows you to get some leverage when forcing it into the dried paint - it is also recessed so you can use a sawing motion to remove caulk and paint. i bought this tool recently and used it to open a window which had been stuck for decades. it still takes a lot of elbow grease and time (1.5 hour for this one) - the longer you use it, the easier it is to use as you learn some little tricks along the way. Best to start at the top and pull down and rock tool into the dried paint. Very glad i found this tool. (i only had to use on the outside as it was not stuck on the inside. if working inside, you'll need to work more slowly to make sure you do minimal damage to the woodwork).

Very Average but Great Idea
The zipper tool shoud have been great on my windows BUT the blade was meant to be flexible and sadly too flexible. I should have stayed with my Painter's 5 in 1 tool.Great idea but needs to be sturdier.

Painted window miracle worker
This little tool was a godsend! It got my painted window open in no time. My window had been painted for years. My ac finally went out and i had to figure out how to get it opened. This is the best option. It’s worth the money! It works! It’s not flimsy! It held up and got the window open! Get it if you have windows that are painted closed!

It Works!
While the blade is thin, it needs to be to get into the space after you break thru the old paint. It takes time a patience to work around a window and be careful because the tool can slip and gouge into the wood window casing, but it works, it took me about 20 min to get one window unstuck after many years of being painted shut. Be careful be patient and you should have success with this tool.
