A good mixture of songs.
This cd has a good variety of songs sung in other languages. They are clear, not too long (ranging from 30 seconds to 4 minutes) and easy for children to learn and sing-a-long. The children really enjoy singing the song from Australia (I got kicked by a kangaroo, prickled by a porcupine etc.

ok but not as easy as i expected.
I was thinking this would be a book I could just pick up and use with my class. The songs are a little harder than expected. You need to learn them at home with the use of other languages as not so easy to teach the class. Would say this is more ks1/ lower ks2 possibly. I use the odd song for Reception but not as much as I hoped. However each song has a bit of info on the origin or an explanation of the song. It offers ideas of what to do for each song and some actions to use with some songs.

Tam tam tambalay by Helen Macgregor
I found this book really useful, not only does it have a CD so you can become familiar with the songs but it also has the musical score at the back for you to play along to. It has a step by step guide for each song and even includes areas to progress the children further by adding dances and specific instruments.I also really like the way in which each word is broken down and it expains how to say them, this is really useful for the children that the book is aimed for. The way in which each song has some background knoweldge about it also allows the teacher to then have the ability to put the songs in context for the childern, which will help dramitically in their learning.

ideal resource for class and music teachers
This is a great songbook for anyone wanting to include world music in their school lessons. Most of the songs use repeated words or phrases which makes them easier to memorise. The cd has lovely arrangements that you can sing along to and ensures that you pronounce the words properly!I use this book with primary age and special school students.I hope there will be a book 2 soon.

Great book
Really great book - worth every penny. Clear layout - easy lyrics in all sorts of other languages - lovely melodies and good quality accompaniments on the CD. I use this book regularly with foundation stage children but also with Y1, 2 and sometimes even 3/4 depending on the song. Highly reccommend it.
