These work great and seem to be well-made
Wow, these work great! I'm just getting started with 3D printing, and came across these by accident. I have a big 3D printing project that requires me to be able to screw parts together, and these fit the bill. It's a little bit of a challenge to get them in straight with just a soldering iron. When putting one of these in, as soon as I get it sunk into the plastic, I put a screw into it and adjust the placement while the plastic is still hot. That seems to work pretty well, but I have to be quick, before the plastic cools. Thankfully if it's not quite right I can just heat up the insert again and make whatever adjustments are necessary. When I ordered these inserts, I was concerned that they wouldn't be anchored firmly enough in the plastic, but that fear turned out to be completely unfounded. Once these guys are sunk into the plastic, they're in for good. They seem to be machined well -- the screws I bought glide in smoothly, with no issues. I'll definitely buy these again.

Non Optimal Configuration
These insert nuts have a big lip on each side. That lip has the knurled surface, and the middle section is smooth. These lips push more material into the threads on the side being melted into the part. The nuts are also hard to align with the printed socket, as there's no bevel on either side of the nut to line up with the hole.

Great In 3D Prints
These work great in my 3D prints all the time, when I make a hole to press them into. I DO NOT use heat, but a proper hole the right size makes these the way to go in most cases..

Great for adding M8 but some things you should know...
Because the insert nut is huge, it takes longer to set. If you up the heat it will push plastic off the walls into the path of the M8 screw on the backside so take your time. I use 400 c in setting them. It is very slow. I have only found one heat set adapter for M8 and the Hakko on Amazon; "ShineNow Heat-set Insert Soldering Tip Adaptor"

The outer diameter is not 3.2mm its at least 3.47mm, causing me to waste time and money on issues with 3D prints

Not sure what criteria I should be using to choose between three, four or five stars unless I do a QC analysis of machining tolerances. Short of getting out the micrometers and stats books, though, these are what they say they are, and they work fine… so full marks here!

Recieved only 43 of the 50 it was supposed to have, not impressed at all and it seems I'm not the only person this has happened too. If I didn't absolutely need these right now, they'd of been sent back and I'd have gone with a better style with better reviews.

Works perfectly but....3 stars only because 4 part /50 are missing.... Buy 50pcs and received only 46...
