The English glam rock band was fronted by Chris Norman, who became known to American audiences for his duet with Suzi Quatro, "Stumblin' In", which became a top chart hit around the world. But Smokie was most popular in Europe in the late 1970's with hits like "Laying Back in the Arms of Someone", "Don't Play Your Rock N Roll to Me", their cover of "Needles And Pins" and "Living Next Door to Alice" (which features the "F" word uncensored and stayed that way even when performed on television). Review: They are great! - There was the greatest time of my life and THEY were also with me! I still listen their music 🎶❤️!! Review: Worth buying and definitely worth a listen - I love the old Smokie music and never tire of listening to it. The lead singer, Chris Norman has the best voice. He puts his heart and soul in everything he sings. It's a shame he was never popular in the US. It's so difficult to find some of his work and DVDs here. He will always be my favorite

Best Smokie Collection
If you are a fan of Smokie, this is the album to get, there is plenty of fine country-rock and that pop sound from Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn. If you are not too familiar with Smokie this is a great introduction. I prefer their country-rock material. Sometimes the lyrics are not too strong, but the melodies and harmonies are gorgeous. If you like this kind of music then you may like the following albums: 1) Banjos And Sunshine by Sixty Acres 2) Stranger's Almanac by Whiskey Town 3) The Ultimate Collection by Poco 4) Good To Be Here by Ernest Goodlife Band

Buy this CD
This cd contains the hit songs from group Smokie who were very popular in Europe,Asia and Australia in the ‘70’s.Unfortunately they were never promoted in the USA and could have been right up there with the bands of the day,The Eagles, etc.Smokie still plays and exists today but with different musicians. This CD contains the hits of Smokie during the Chris Norman years, during their peak.

How did I miss this group in the 70s?
This is a very good CD! I realy like Chris Norman's voice. I am a real fan of music from the 60s and 70s, but did not recognize any of the songs---not even Living Next Door to Alice! Stumblin In is on this CD and I did know that one--but only as a Suzie Quatro hit. Of course the cover of Needles and Pins from the Searchers was familiar also. I have also order the Chris Normal 3 CD set because his voice is addictive! I feel like I have discovered NEW music! Well worth taking a listen!
