The Morrigan: Celtic Goddess of Magick and Might

Pretty good.
For the most part this is one of the better books on the Morrigan that I've read. It does a good job, more or less, explaining the Morrigan's various roles and identities with brief looks at the source lore.I would say, personally, that anyone new to this goddess' call should understand that a pretty good slice of this book is what's referred to as UPG (unproven personal gnosis). That's not a jab at the author or the others that helped contribute to the book. It's simply the nature of devotion to this goddess. What they found to be true of their experience with Herself may not be anything like yours, so if you don't interact with her in ways described in this book, don't think it's a failing on your part. She just comes to YOU differently, and that's okay. One thing that did rub me the wrong way was the preaching of Wiccan dogma at the end of the book in the section for spells. While it's not healthy to go around throwing hexes at every last person that looks at you funny, there's not a thing in the world wrong with blasting the ever-lovin' heck out of somebody that deserves it, so don't let that "law of three" silliness stop you if you need to put some jerk in their place. Witchcraft has been used for thousands and thousands of years, up to and including hexes and curses. Wicca was made up in the 50's by Gerald Gardener.

A Thought Provoking Read on the Dark Mother and Getting to Know Yourself!
I found the book to be the most complete work I have read to date on the Morrigan. The book is packed with historical data. While the writer ads her personal experiences, it isn’t overly loaded with non essential viewpoints. I found the book refreshing and the personal touch just right to give a over all compliment and dignity to the Dark Lady that is so often denied Her through fear.Get ready for a great read, and if you decide to become devoted to her, get ready to know yourself. Perhaps stripping away the unnecessary is what frightens us most when given the opportunity to lose the Farscape and gain our true wild selves. She doesn’t pity fools, but she is gracious and will teach you a lot about yourself and Her ways if you come honestly to her.A wonderful read.

Excellent Resource
I've been a devotee of the Morrigan for over twenty years and I found this book to be an excellent resource. There is lots of food for thought. The author gives many perspectives, lots of possible interpretations for myths, and some good rituals. This would be the perfect book for someone just starting the path, or anyone considering the path, but it's also very useful for experienced followers.

Perfect Beginners Book
I’d been drawn to The Morrigan for quite a few years, but never pursued it for one reason or another. This book is the epitome of what a book should be for a deity. It confronts all aspects, all facets, of this complex paradoxical deity. It also gives interesting real accounts from real people each chapter along with wonderful ways to work with her. It’s not fast paced to the point where things are skimped over yet not long drawn to the point you zone out. I read it fairly quickly and was very happy with my experience when I finished it. I’m definitely open to continuing my research into The Morrigan as this book has only reaffirmed what I instinctively seemed to know about her - and that’s that she’s a perfect storm of mystery and that she’s a free spirit of a deity, one that I relate to immensely honestly. A definite must read for any curious people wanting to know more about her or pagans wanting to see into the mysterious world of this goddess.

HAIL MORRIGU THIS IS GLORIOUS
As a devoted daughter of The Morrigan myself; I can tell you this was an absolutely beautiful, poignant, honest approach to The Morrigu- So pure and straight forward- the way she described the tough love the great Queen Mother bestows upon her children- this was a joy to read. Her love for the Goddesses (whom encompasses the Morrigan) is so devout it resonated with me so deeply my soul rang out this Witch loves The Morrigan as you do, deeply and devoutly!!!! I want to be the author's friend in real life! Love. Love.

4. Goddess? Faery? Both?
My favorite chapter so far is chapter 4 because I mainly associate the Morrigan with the fae, amongst others. I'm excited to read about Macha! Thank you Courtney, for your adaptations of the myths & your interpretations. The book is wonderfully written.

A Pleasant Surprise...
I've been a fan of Courtney's since her first book, Bridgid: History, Mystery, and Magick. And she's done it again. Evocative and inspiring, Courtney's voice in her writing makes you feel as if you're on the journey with her. Her pain, her joys, her confusion - all of it is relatable, and that The Morrigan might not to so far out of reach. Her scholarship is excellent, (thank goodness they let her have footnotes in this one!), so that you can do your own research after you finish. Courtney blends academic study, personal gnosis, and actionable magick with personal exercises that allow you to both develop and deepen your relationship with The Great Queen. I cannot speak for those who already have a relationship with Her, but for those of us who may be hearing the beginning caws of Her crows - Courtney's book is an encouraging place to begin your journey.

Authentic and Well Written book on The Morrigan
This book is a well written guide on how to bring yourself closer to The Morrigan. Each chapter has an included easy exercise to help strengthen your connection to Herself. If you are new to your practice, or if you are looking for a fresh, authentic connection, this book will put you on a steady path. The author shares pieces of her personal experience as well to help tie into real-world practice. If An Mórríghan calls you, this book will help you heed and grow. I highly recommend it.

Don't be afraid of The Morrigan
It's a pretty good book. Written by one of her priestess, "The Morrigan:Celtic Goddess" is a great analysis and approach to Goddess Morrigan through the examination of her lore, her sacred places and experiences from other devotees. It really helped me to understand her a little bit more, and more important to don't be afraid of Morrigan and don't try to play blind. It's also a great reading to understand the ancient Celtic society through their myths, more specific their women. Really recommended
