Gene had 3 but this is the best. Get them all
First, the vinyl is sound. This is my third sojourn with Gene. And it’s the best. Get roadrunner and Gene, but this is clearly the best. Get all 3 but this one rocks.

Genes finest!
This album is a masterpiece, the pressing and packaging really nice. Don’t have original, but don’t really feel the need to get one as this does the trick.

Noisy pressing
Great, full sounding remaster but several copies have been very noisy, even after cleaning. Numerous loud pops and cracklings. Last song on side a is especially bad. Hopefully this will be corrected by 4ad in a repress.

Remastered reissue from 1974 - but the best album I've heard in years !
Hard to believe this was originally released in 1974 and then virtually disowned by the record company Asylum. Gene Clark had made a few varied and very good albums after leaving the Byrds, for whom he wrote some of their best original songs. "No other" is his masterpiece. Asylum, and some reviewers didn't agree citing the high recording costs/time resulting in the lush production, lack of obvious hit single and the mixture of musical styles to condemn the album. It didn't help that Gene Clark had an intermittent drug/drink problem and an aversion to, but not a fear of, flying which restricted his ability to promote the album. Consequently, Asylum only made one print run of the LP and didnt promote or market it. This 2019 release has been remastered, enhancing the superb sound which with echoes of Dylan, Neil Young and even Gordon Lightfoot sounds like the blueprint for The Eagles who came to prominence in the next few years.

Most disappointing
White Light by Gene Clarke is one of my favourite albums ever and the Byrds I love just about everything they did. I remember buying this album about 15 years ago and being disappointed - but having got more into Country/folk as I have aged past the 50 years old mark by a few years now I re read all the reviews praising this album to the hilt and brought it again; I wish I hadn't bothered, it is so unlike White Light and quite boring and middle of the road mid 70's sounding - there is nothing particularly redeemable about this album, nothing stand out and I will probably never listen to it again - I will place it in the attic along with other disappointments like Justin Townes Earle's, Harlem River Blues, another album with high praise reviews that was so bland I couldn't bear to hear it through... A reminder to listen first before I buy I guess. there are so many truely great Country and Folk albums out there to discover, you don't need this one

Gently powerful rewarding listen .
Heard this on a workmates spotify radio. Ordered it soon after , no regrets. A unique laid back delivery without being annoying and some notable melodies popping up to grasp the sentimental depths .

The reviews are right, this is gene's best
A stunning, well thought out album from the most talented member of the byrds.
