I'll give you the shortest answer possible. Average male needs 4000 calories a day with 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day with 1 hr weight training per day. This will vary due to cardio inclusion, intensity of weight training, etc. This basic formula puts you around 1 lb of muscle mass per week. This is a very rough estimate, but will point you in the right direction. This is a supplement and DO NOT try to replace food with a mass gainer. Again, it is a supplement.

Q: Ok to stack with whey protein (same brand)??? One or the other is enough for moderate gains???

You increase your caloric intake so as to not burn protein, the building blocks of muscle, for your energy to exercise. You want to leave the protein alone so it can go towards physical muscle tissue growth instead of metabolizing it for energy. It is perfectly fine to stack these as long as you are keeping track of your calories and protein intake and keeping them within optimal ranges. It is not so much one or the other. They work together for muscle mass gain.
