Otterbox 77-31048 Droid(tm)maxx By Motorola Defender Series case (black)

Solid case
I'm going to go ahead and give this one 5 stars. I knew I was getting something bulky, and with stiff buttons, so I can't deduct any points for that. I also knew that the built in screen protector was a joke, and after trying it for about 30 seconds, I when right ahead and ripped it off. I'm not a one case kinda guy, so I need a screen protector on for when I switch cases, and so I had no intention of keeping the built in protector on. They'd really be better off supplying an adhesive, or better yet, a wet protector like the armor suits. As far as the case goes, it takes some effort to install and remove, but it better if it's going to protect. I like that the back has some friction, unlike the commuter, which has the hardshell on the outside. I I'd prefer a different holster style, as I thing a spring loaded clip would be better, but oh well...I doubt I'll use it much.

The iPhone 3GS case was horrible iPhone 4 case was great Samsung GS4 case was ...
I've had Otterbox Defenders on almost all of my smartphones phones. The iPhone 3GS case was horribleiPhone 4 case was greatSamsung GS4 case was greatand now:Motorola Droid Maxx.... And it's already starting to come apart. I bought this case for my latest phone which was purchased about a month ago so the case is only a month old as well. Already the rubber is starting to separate right above the camera slot. Also the charging port cover "hinge" is a little too stiff. While its great because it had more rubber to keep from breaking, it has ruined 2 charging cords already by pressing down on them and making them bend. Protection quality is good ( It IS still an Otterbox after all) but construction quality seems to be lacking.

Solid, rugged, a bit on bulky side
Sturdy, rugged. With the OtterBox Defender series case for the Motorola Droid Maxx fits perfectly. There is a protective film built into the case which is a plus. To put the case on you take off the rubber seal around the edge and then gently pull apart the protective film cover and the backing. Insert phone and then reassemble. Youtube has some great videos which can be helpful. The belt clip/holster is a nice feature that you can use when needed.Overall happy with this purchase, but it does make the Droid Maxx seem a little bulkier but I do feel as though the phone is well protected.

Great product, top-notch seller
I was sent the wrong case, which was slightly damaged, but wow, did the seller ever take care of me. Hands down some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. Replacement is intact and was here in a short business week, all the way from across the country! It looks good, like it came right off the assembly line. Yeah it's bulky but what did you expect? Supposedly you can drop an Otterbox phone off a house and it'll survive, so who cares? It has a belt clip which I use always and phone install was simple enough. Just be careful snapping it all together; when an Otterbox is in its component pieces it's actually quite fragile. The screen protector is horrible, as you may know if you've owned a Defender. Pop it out slowly, clean off the glue, get you a REAL screen protector, apply it or have it applied, make absolutely sure the glue is clean, install the phone. Trust me on this one. May void the warranty, but a protector that isn't adhered to the surface like this one isn't makes it unacceptably frustrating to get your screen to respond to touches in the margins. Otterbox needs to address this, hands down. Ultimately though I am a very satisfied customer.

Strong and sturdy, keeps phone safe!
I tried ordering a cheap case online and it was terrible. This is the way to go...spend the extra money for this otterbox. I've already dropped my phone twice with this case on it and you can barely see one scuff on the case. There was absolutely no damage done to the phone. It might not be a pretty color like some cases, but it is definitely going to keep your phone safe! For me, that's a good thing; I'm a petsitter with two small children so if a kid isn't dropping it then I'm getting knocked down by an excited pup.

Nice case
I always used Otterbox, and they are top-notch. Tight fitting, ultimate protection, blah, blah, blah. But Otterbox has made some improvements. The rubber is not so rubbery anymore, and slips more easily into or out of a pocket. It also retains it's shape better. There was also additional padding added inside, so the phone fits more snugly than in my last Otterbox.Short of waterproof, this is the best protection you can get.

Does not fit phone!
The screen cover leaves an air gap between the clear cover and the touch screen rendering it useless on the Droid Maxx. I had to remove the cover to get it to fit so the screen has no protection which is the point of the case. Also the wireless charger I have does not work through the case at all. The Defender fit and charged fine on my Galaxy S7 but it is a huge disappointment on the Droid Maxx.

Very expensive case for the value
I am not very happy about the otter box case; I am keeping it because it was the only case in a long time that fits my Droid Maxx phone correctly. The case is very hard to take off when needed and stuff gets under the protected screen. The reason that I have to take off the case is to clean under the screen. I am afraid that one day the case will break because it is so hard to remove.
