Very good respirator
worked really well for me. Fits well and reasonably comfortable. Used for brush on varnish

Seems to work well - pleased with purchase
I bought this mask since it appears to be a slight upgrade to the paint project mask found at Home Depot. I used it for auto painting using spray cans. Some of these can be quite nasty and have a strong smell of solvents. With the mask on, there was no detectable smell whatsoever. I found the mask a little tricky to assemble, but I finally got the hang of it after reading the instructions. During that process, A round rubber airflow backflow valve came out, but this was easily put back into place over the filter entrance inside of the mask. It just pushes in. It comes with 2 6001 filters installed and an additional sealed package with 4 particulate filters. I don't know yet how long they will last, or how to tell if they need changing. The mask is comfortable but a little bulky at the bridge of the nose which interfered just a bit with the full coverage goggles I was using, but no real problem. Mask is comfortable around the head and easy to wear and remove once you understand how the hook works.

Excellent comfort, effectiveness, and breathability
Real easy to fit and adjust. I did the seal test and it works well for me (5'8 asian male). The suffocating sense is kinda scary though. It's a powerful respirator, and comes with an extra set of the p95 filters too. Completely can't smell anything outside, and works better than non respirators (no fog on glasses, no smelly mask). Only thing I noticed is that you have to take deep breathes, as it's harder to draw air in since there is a chamber in front of your face that you need to move air in and out from. Highly recommended for professional use with the right filter.

3M is the de-facto standard for respirators
There are many competing manufacturers of masks (e.g. Sperian/North/Honeywell is another big one), but 3M is the de facto standard in the United States. If you go 3M, you wil be able to get replacement cartridges and filters at the local building supply store, which is not true of other brands. The advantage/drawback of the 3M system is that they make a bewildering array of masks and cartridges and adapter combos. There are three major series of reusable masks - 7500 (this one), 6500 (also silicone; not sure what exactly is different between those two), and 6000 (rubber, less expensive, maybe less comfortable for long wear), each of which comes in Small/Medium/Large. Then there are gas cartridges - the 6000 series is just the gas cartridge, and and the 69000 series also includes an attached P100 filter. If you go with the 6000 series cartridges, you can then optionally attach a 501 clip and P95 or N95 prefilters, which you can change on a different schedule than the gas cartridge. If you want JUST the particulate filter and not gas, you can either get the 2000 series P100 particulate filters which attach directly to the mask, or the 603 adapter, which then lets you use the 501 clip and the (cheaper) P95 or N95 prefilters. To summarize, here are the most common sets of things you can attach:69xxx (gas plus P100)6xxx (gas only)6xxx + 501 clip + 5xxx prefilters (gas plus P95 or N95)603 adapter (AKA dummy cartridge) + 501 clip + 5xxx prefilters2xxx (P100 only)the 3rd row is what this mask comes with: 6001 organic vapor cartridge, plus 501 clips, plus 5P71 P95 prefilters.Confused yet? If not, note that technically you can even get an adapter (part 502) to attach the 2000 prefilter to the 6000 gas cartridges, but this makes no sense to me; if you want that combo, just buy the 69000 cartridges instead for less money. And there's also 7000 series particulate cartridges, which have a hard plastic case, so that when you get hosed off they don't get wet. and there's a 5000 series of masks, in which the cartridges are permanently attached and NOT replaceable.Whew!Anyway, the point is this mask is part of a very flexible system. However, I didn't like this specific mask, because it came with a yucky rubber smell which is taking its time to go away.

I would have serious lung problems if it weren't for this mask ! and the 98% filters I got for it were awesome . I even use this thing for going into the porta-potty at work lol, if you ever worked at a construction site and had to use a porta potty then you know how bad it can be .. just slap this thing on and you can sit in there and hang out all day with no smell ! For non poop related things this mask also delivers exceptionally. Im a carpenter and i use it almost all day long , it's comfortable , effective and easy to adjust and remove in a hurry. There was a shipping mishap but it wasnt amazons fault or the sellers fault , it was my local post office . They delivered it to the wrong address. I called amazon to find out where my package was and they just overnighted me a whole new set ( mask , extra filters and safety glasses. all part of my original order) at no cost to me !. That is awesome costumer service!

Comfortable and high-quality respirator with many filter options available.
I use this while working with plastic cement and it's been both comfortable and easy to adjust.Keep in mind that it comes with 2 filter types you install together: the organic vapor cartridge to block certain vapors and gases, and the P95 filter (thin white piece) which is held in place over the OV cartridge with a retaining cap. You will need to replace each filter separately, or order 3M's combination cartridges which include both types in one piece. To find out which type of cartridge you need, find the hazardous substances on the Material Safety Data Sheet of whatever chemicals you expect to work with, and match them to the Respirator Selection Guide on 3M's website.
