You don't have to look at anything else!
This review is for the Pyle PMKSH04 Suspension Boom Scissor Microphone Stand. When I ordered this I really didn’t have high expectations; let me tell you how pleasantly surprised I was.We are using two of these in our studio along with the LEAGY L-58 Home Recording Sound Studio Dynamic Pro Audio Condenser Microphones.I was skeptical on whether or not it would be strong enough to hold up the microphones when extended from a distance. I found that the scissor stand was able to reach further than I expected and still be positioned out of the way so it wasn’t blocking our faces. It held up really well with only about a half inch drop when fully extended after setting the position. This can easily be compensated for by just positioning it a half inch higher than needed before using it.For the cost the construction was very good. These have been connected and removed several times and there is no ware on it as I can see. They hold tight to the table where attached and move freely for adjusting. The only complaint I have is that the screw on the base of the clamp when left loose tends to loosen up even more. For our needs it is beneficial to be able to swivel the boom from side to side. To solve this I just removed the hand twist screw and put a nut on the end; then screwed it back in; by using the nut to secure the screw in place it solved the problem. The XLR cable is permanently threaded through the boom and is a nice feature. The cable isn’t a great length, but for plugging into a mixer you have more than enough cable.Final conclusionWell worth the money. It is more than you can expect from anything priced under a hundred dollars.

Great stand for Yeti Blue microphone when taken care of.
Using with a Yeti Blue microphone. First off, let me say about the others, this is pot metal. If you crank down on it with 50 lbs of force it will break. Mine didn't have an issue but, you should know this by picking it up. 2nd this is a cheap item, not a $200 or more, so keep your expectations real and within the price bracket. It holds the Blue Yeti fine. The bracket did not break off like others claim. Again if you use pliers to crank the screw it will break. But if you put a cheater bar on a craftsmen, stainless steel wrench, it will also. So that is neither here nor there. Nice long reach. The screw to hold the boom it isn't even needed, gravity holds it in. I'm also assuming people wrench it down then go to move it (without loosening) and break it. All in all working for over 3 months no issues. P.S if you can get this without the shock mount, and using it for the Blue Yeti, do so, the mount is way to small to fit over the Yeti. The Yeti is a tiny bit bigger than a 24oz Monster energy drink, the mount is thinner than a 8 oz red bull.

Decent quality, good value for the price
I had a hard time finding a decent mic boom here on Amazon -- most of the ones you'll find here seem like cheap junk. This one seemed to be the best of the selections, although I'm not terribly thrilled with the Pyle brand in general. However, it turned out to be a rather decent unit; the arm stays where you put it, and will hold a rather heavy mic and pop screen without dipping. The only complaint is the clamp: the base seems to be made of a softer pot metal than the screw, so if you try to tighten the clamp too much, the screw will start to bore out the base. This can be mitigated somewhat by applying a little light lubrication to the threads to reduce the friction while tightening. If you want a professional-grade boom, look somewhere besides Amazon. However, for the price, this one should work well for most applications.

What a great value... Sadly I almost didn't buy this because of the low price. A+++++++
What a great value!I've had other desk mounted boom stands.I almost didn't buy this one because of the low price and some of my experiences with others before purchasing this one.I have to say that this stand exceeded any expectation I had. Now, it's true that I didn't really expect much, but this boom meets or exceeds any expectation I might have had for a desk mounted microphone boom in general, regardless of price. My previous experience with stands of this type was that they would droop under the weight of the mic... worse - they would do do at the most inopportune moments. This stand:1) Includes an integrated XLR extension that's weaved into the boom itself so it's clean and uncluttered.2) Provides a solid mount for a mic that doesn't droop or move from where I set it.3) Offers a couple of different mounting possibilities.4) Provides a surprising number of mic clips including a shock mount.5) Has a professional looking appearance and seems well crafted in all respects. The only negative I might have for this stand is that it could be longer, but I'm not deducting any stars for this because it is exactly as long as described. I'm not sure if they sell a larger model, but I am sure I'd buy another of these stands in a heartbeat.ThanksJoe (Creatively.Me)
