Awesome and Explosive Continuation of this Series!
I just finished reading this book and already ordered the 5th book! The author, Michael Hopf, is phenomenal and keeps the reader's attention throughout the book. I really appreciated that he picks up where the last volume ended and one is immersed in the whole story that you can't put it down. All the characters are portrayed so vividly and the various scenes appear like a portal that you could almost step right in there and be part of the action, drama and intensity of their determination to survive and matter in that post apocalyptic world! Being a veteran myself, the main character Gordon, is someone I can totally relate to, thus bringing back great memories of comraderies among soldiers, moral resolve and fortitude to service before self for the betterment of all. The ending leaves one riveting in anger and distress because of another personal loss for Gordon, I don't want to say more other than you will be hooked and hungry for more. Thank you Michael, for this outstanding series and looking forward to continuing the journey with Gordon and the Cascadian's determination for freedom!!

Pretty good......
Overall a good book. Started out SSSLLOOWWWW, but ended well. Spoiler alert here - I don't think the addition of the "illness" complication added much to the story other than to fill some pages - especially after learning the resolution. I have read all the previous books in this series, and I think this one was the weakest. All that said, I'll still buy the next book in the series, and am anxious to find out how all my new friends in the story endure the challenges ahead.

Excellent continuation
Great book, very thought provoking. At first I thought this series was all about survival and post apocalyptic fiction, but it's not. It's an intriguing look in to power, leadership, and government. Small community, big government, environmentalist, military, zealots, democracy, oligarchy, dictatorships all corrupt leaders no matter the form of government or associations that are created. By the end I think we will see what author thinks is best form.Author piles on the twists and turns and unlike other books in this genre where you can see the transparent plot, you never seem to figure this one out. One criticism is that I wish the action sequences were expanded, seemed like big build up and climax done in 2 pages. Could have been longer.Fascinating and can't wait to see what happens next.

A Good Read
A good read but you would need to have read the previous books in the series. Another well written book in the series. Good character growth and I found I still have a genuine interest in what happens to the main characters. I am looking forward to the next installment.

LOVED IT!!!!!
Book four in the New World Series is finally here and it is a hard hittin S.O.B. Let me make this clear for all: if you are not absolutely 100% gripped after the first 12 pages of the prologue, PUT THE BOOK AWAY!! This is not the series for you and you do not deserve to finish this book. I have been a loyal reader of this series since The End and this was by and far my favorite of the series thus far, this is a post-apocalyptic series but there is one thing that makes this one stand out: Hope, hope that we know that the world rebuilds, we know that the Republic of Cascadia does prevail but at what cost? Does the United States still exist in 2066 in some capacity or is it a distant memory? How many factions will be involved in the Great Civil War and how long will the war last? How does Gordon Van Zandt fit into this new government? All of these were questions that I was left with and wanting more after the last page was turned, I absolutely loved book four and equally await book 5! Thank you G. Michael Hopf for an amazing series and I look forward to many more.

entertaining read, must have if you enjoyed the previous installments
I love this genre, and G. Michael Hopf is on my short list of post-apocalyptic authors who can write a story that keeps me interested. If you enjoyed the series up to this point, you won't be disappointed. Hopefully, there is another installment on the way. It would help to explain some of the thinly detailed plot developments in this installment.

le volet 4 d'une saga post apocalyptique, j'ai bien accroché à l'histoire qui reste crédible et intéressante... reste facile à lire pour ceux qui pratiquent leur américain.

MURICA!!!!
This book, like the entire series, is let down by some really terrible writing and characters. At points along the way I had to stop reading as the dialogue was so tedious and cliched and the characters so unrealistic. However in saying that I do think there's a solid story here though. And that's the reason I kept reading. But these books read exactly how you'd imagine a former military man and Republican to write them. These books are so Pro gun they could easily be NRA official material. But like I said. There's a solid story in here. You'll just have to put up with, easily, some of the worst dialogue I've ever encountered in a novel.
