VTech Kidizoom Action Cam, Yellow

This was a birthday gift for my 9 yr old. Easy for him to use right out of the box! not the best quality photos but he doesn't really care. It's tough and so far has held up to his....shall we say...exuberance? ha ha! no seriously, he's just a boy, he plays, he has adventures and is going to occasionally suffer from fumble jumbles at this age and while acting silly with this device or trying to use it while riding his scooter, bike or swimming. So far this is holding up to that though he has yet to really have an incident that might make one pause and say "uh oh". Still, this does appear to be well made, sturdy and able to handle some rough handling...which it should because the whole point of this is to be handled by KIDS!So, we've had it now for a couple weeks and so far so good. If you are looking for high quality pictures or video...this is not going to be that...if you are looking for something that can satisfy a child's need to have an action camera that will give them a decent image they can have some fun with but won't break the bank, this is that item.As an FYI, my middle son has an action camera that was about this same price point and it takes excellent images. It will take a beating too but I didn't get that one because for my younger son, having the ability to add silly images to his photos was important to him. Again, my middle child is more into quality, my younger more into the fun of it all. So, something for you to think about. If your child is a tween or teen and quality is important, then skip this. If your child is going to be rough, play hard, and just wants to have fun...this is the item to go for.

I have a 7 and 5 year old. We took this on our vacation to Florida this past summer. I've been singing the praises of this little gem to friends and family. It's great out of the package. The video itself isn't te greatest, but who cares for young kids. They just laugh seeing themselves on video. The waterproof case worked great. We took it into the ocean and I was up close with some fish and sandollars in about 5-6 feet of water and it held up nice. Back at the pool it was more fun, but we basically left it on the entire time, threw it in the pool and whoever got it took video and pics. Some priceless shots. Just using a standalone camera is fun too. It does come with a few cheesy games on it, so that worked out well when we were standing in line for our airplane boarding passes - kept them entertained for a few minutes at least. Buy the case for it too. Nice way to secure everything in a central hub and keep the paperwork and charging cords. Battery holds up well for a long time!

I love this camera. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because I couldn't load directly to Facebook from the memory card but instead had to open the files in MS Movie Player and save as a WMV instead of AVI file which is the format the camera saves videos. The pictures and videos were clear. It picked up sound well and the pictures were way better then I expected based on some of the reviews. You can barely see the pictures on the screen and video forget about watching it on the screen. Yet they came out really well. See the pictures I shared. I bought a harness kit EEEKit Gift Pack For VTech Kidizoom Kid Action Cam,Head Strap Mount,Junior Child Kid Chest Body Harness Mount,Neck Strap,Storage Bag so my son could wear it and he was "embarrassed" to wear it till he saw my nieces and nephews using it. Then he was happy to use it!It was easy to use although the menu options are not intuitive.2019 Update: 2 years later and this camera is going strong. We like it so much I just ordered another for a gift. It is used intermittently (vacations) and we use it in the pool, beach, ocean and lake. It works really well and we are happy to have it on vacation. He has used it a few times at home as my son is interested in starting a youtube channel but I'm not sold on the idea. Sound works underwater and above.

This is great for kids and adults who are not familiar with technology, I bought this cause I needed a video cam quickly for an upcoming trip, Video quality was ok actually better than what I expected, As for the waterproofness I would give it 3 stars, I say that because while it does have a waterproof case I don't expect it to work for long periods of time underwater, Im sure it will work just fine in rainy weather however. It came with a bike mount as well as a flat surface mount, The bike mount will be great for biking trips as for the other mount I can't say Ill be able to use it much as it's slippery on a hard plastic surface like my helmet and needs to be taped down to stay, The product also came with a hand strap, Now the strap is great but I do find it difficult to secure the strap so I used a keychain ring for that, I also added a necklace cord so it can be worn around the neck when your not filming. (All in all this is a good product for what it's worth and I totally would recommend this product to someone)

We got this for our 4 year old for Christmas. He loves it, but we've had a few issues with the quality. One of the buttons on the camera is malfunctioning, and another button on the waterproof case is a bit wonky. We're looking in to getting these items replaced now, for which I will provide an update later. Everything else works pretty well. The user interface on the camera is easy to operate for a young kid, and lots of fun. It takes very basic, low res photos and videos, but that's really all a kid needs to get behind the lens. We also had some issues uploading the files to a computer. We haven't resolved this yet but will provide an update later.
