Are these sandalwood or palo santo ? The description Is confusing .

Neither. JUST WOOD that’s red in the box with a couple of cones shaped sandle wood incense. Just my opinion.

Like Palo Santo or any other incense. Yet, my opinion is this wood is not a great buy. Comes with a couple of cone shaped incense in the box so the smell is great. Burn the “sandle wood” sticks alone & they’re just wood (or at least they burn & smell like just wood) Buy a better brand.

How is it that these have an over four star rating with the highest rating they got in his 3.8? If somebody could just explain to me I’ll be happy.

Bogus reviews is the only answer. Don’t believe me, but some and try them. If you feel like wasting your money.

Would it be possible to ground the sticks in a mortar and pestle?

So, I ordered these and they seem like just regular wood sticks. They have no fragrance or resemblance to sandalwood at all. I wouldn't waste your money if you're looking for the scent of sandalwood.
