Where have these little pinwheels been all of my knife making years??
Sorry no photos, tough to see in a photo the differences these things make. Don't take my word for it, spend the $13 bucks and change and buy a set. I doubt you'll be sorry! They are great around stainless steel bolsters and pommels where you don't want to get too close to your scales with a big buffing wheels and compound. These should be used for finishing work removing small scratches - NOT deep gouges. Advice...don't get lazy and skip grits. If you follow the grit path, just like sanding belts on the grinder, each one does a better job than the previous grit and when you get to the end, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!! They are pretty thin, but if you want/need it to be "thicker", you can stack 2-3 together on the mandrel. Also, pay attention and install the pinwheels with the fins facing the proper direction - or else it won't work (see the picture on the top of the box). I agree with some of the other reviewers, although I could buy some additional mandrels, it wouldn't cost them that much more to include a separate mandrel for each included grit (one additional mandrel). Also - the grit structure that is displayed on the top of the organization box is NOT the same color sequence that they are actually in, in the box. Take a couple of minutes and rearrange the pinwheels in the proper sequential order. if not, you WON"T be happy with the results. You've been warned!!

Excellent, consistent abrasion that lasts!
First time user, and they worked better than I anticipated. I was particularly surprised how long they continue to abrade. After a very long period of constant, high speed use, you'll begin to lose an arm here or there, but well past the point of where it would have been disappointing.

Not sure how they compare to other brands, but they work well.
I use these disks to sand metal for jewelry. I have used it on my hammer to take scratches out as well and it worked great on the scratches that weren't too deep. The scratches that are deeper, I am going to have to file them, then use the disks to sand them, then I can pre-polish, and last polish it. I would buy them again unless, I find something else that works better for the price. Which I don't think I will.

Great set for metal smithing jewelry
Variable grits, they last for good while, especially not pushed hard down on metal. (Not needed). They do a great job of removing marks scratches etc. will build up to the beginnings of a nice polish. Good value. Good buy that work well.

Alright for a Beginner Smith
If you’re a silver smith and are looking for a a flawless high shine polish, skip these and get the 3m set. While I think these are great for a beginner smith, they do leave grooves in your metal. I used these for about a year and finally upgraded to the 3m set, and wow they are so much better. These cost a lot less, but not worth it in my opinion.

Very handy rotary tool attachment!
This suited my application perfectly. A very thin polishing surface with multiple grits. I used them to clean the rust out of the string slots on electric guitar bridge saddles. Each wheel is actually two pinwheels stuck together. You can make it half as wide by cutting the tentacles off of one of the wheels, which is what I did. Can’t beat the price on these. Would definitely buy them again!

DO NOT BUY!!
DO NOT BUY THESE!!! these. Most of the wheels are dry and break as soon as you start using them and yes they are put on the right way and the right direction. I recommend Dedeco from now on.

Great for cleaning small items
I have been using these for cleaning superficial rust from somewhat delicate items. They work very well. If you use a light touch, they really don't mar the underlying substrate much at all. Great to have around.
