From the author of the bestselling children's book When God Made You comes a rhythmic, whimsical journey through creation--for little readers who love science and wonder and the beginnings of all things. For spiritual parents who are looking for a different kind of creation book, Matthew Paul Turner's When God Made the World focuses on the complex way that God created our vast and scientifically operating universe, including the biodiversity of life on our planet and the intricacies of a vast solar system. Scottish illustrator Gillian Gamble brings the natural world to vibrant life with rich colors and poignant detail certain to stretch young minds and engage imaginations. Planet Earth, God made a blue and green sphere, And designed it to orbit the sun once a year. God made daytime and nighttime, climates and seasons, And all kinds of weather that vary by region. God made continents and oceans, islands and seas, A north and south pole that God put in deep freeze. God carved rivers and brooks, mountains and caves, Made beaches with sand and huge crashing waves. God made tropics and plateaus, glaciers and meadows, marshes and tundras and erupting volcanos. Review: ~~Excellent...just excellent....~~ - The author recommends this book for ages 3 to 7 and grades P to 2. The illustrations are superbly done by Gillian Gamble and accompany the text. They are bright and the little ones, I believe, will be enchanted with them. (One other item about the illustrations is that they depict children of different races which is indeed outstanding, as well). The book is in the Land Scape mode so is read horizontally instead of vertically on the Kindle. ( I read it on my PC and it was even larger than the Kindle would have been), In addition to the illustrations the text itself rhymes which I feel is always a bonus for the little ones. I appreciated the fact that there are 'big words' for the children to question. Words such as 'asteroids, continents, apathy, plateaus, geysers, and krills' come to mind. Just a multitude of teaching moments which is a so educational for the young audience. The following may be considered a spoiler but is intended for the parents reading this...The book itself tells of the order of creation. And, along the way, there are birds and animals (with the sounds they make; the day and night creation; the length of orbit of our planet; climate and plants...and much more. Each and every child of this universe is unique and special. God did indeed have a plan when the Earth was created. This has my highest recommendation for multiple reasons. Excellent presentation, educational aspects, and it also rhymes. Most highly recommended. Review: Adventure, encouragement, and truth written in a fun rhythmic rhyme! - I love this book just as much as I did when I first discovered it years ago. This is a staple that should belong in the homes of every Christian family with young children. The illustrations are beautiful, inviting and playful, inviting the reader/listener to come on an adventure. We love the rhyme that this book offers and of course the message! Such a good one to have on hand for a cozy read aloud!

Our new favorite book!
Matthew has written a stunning book about the evolution of the creation story. His lyrical rhyming prose gives life to this story that is old as time, in a way that makes it sound and feel exciting and new. Matthew engages the reader not only by telling the story itself; but also by reinforcing God's love for us as individuals. Our uniqueness and diversity is evident throughout When God Made The World due to the brilliant illustrations by Gillian Gamble; which serve to further solidify the intention behind the creation story. God's loving plan for us. "Cuz all of creation whispers God's story; The mountains, the ocean, the blue morning glory. The raindrops, the sunshine, the grapes on the grapevine; with nature God gives us a glimpse of divine." My HUGE family all love Matthew's previous childrens books; When God Made The World is no exception! This book is a must have for now and for generations to come.

Absolutely beautiful book
This book is phenomenal. The words are so meaningful, beautifully written, and thought-provoking. The visuals are breathtaking. I read this to my 4 year old and was near tears. I love how diverse the children are and how the writer shows details of God’s creations. I’d love to read this over and over and over again and plan to. Amazing. 10/10.

Filled with the important lessons of sharing the Earth God created for us
“When God Made the World” is the first book I have read by Matthew Paul Turner. I was delighted by all of it! Great detail, wonderful choice of words, diversity, lyrical rhyming, gorgeous illustrations, and delightful descriptions...priceless! Gillian Gamble is a gifted illustrator and I could not wait to turn the page to see what it would reveal! This book is filled with so many life lessons, some subtle, some overt. “Cause when God made the world, every creature on Earth became a part of life’s cycle, having value and worth”. This work was such a gift to my heart, a joy to read, with such substance...I did not want it to end. I cannot wait to read it to my 4 year old granddaughter. Can’t wait to read Matthew’s other books also and order more of “When God Made the World” to share with others.

Beautiful book with wonderful message & pictures!
Once again, Matthew Paul Turner does not disappoint!! This is another beautiful children's book with the incredible story of creation, using words and pictures sure to delight children and adults alike! "When I Pray for You" by MPT is our all-time favorite children's book, so I knew we had to have this one, as well. MPT brings God's love and light to life in each page, making Him palpable and real. His words are gorgeous, and Gillian Gamble's illustrations are breathtaking. Everyone should buy a copy of all of his books. They're my go-to baby shower gifts. What a blessing they are! Please keep writing, MPT!

God and evolution beautifully entwined
Great book to share with 5-7ish year olds to present a neutral view of the role of God. It's beautifully positive, diverse, and inclusive without rejecting evolution.

Beautiful and engaging
We love this book. I bought it even though my kids like to tell me they are much too old for picture books. I opened it while on the couch, and I asked if I could read it to them, they started telling me they were too old and not interested...but I just started reading it anyway...seconds later, 2 of the 3 were sitting close and looking at the beautiful illustrations..moments passed and one was on my lap and the other squeezed as close as he could get. These "too old" and "too cool" boys were sucked in. They were under a spell of sorts, and my mama heart was so warm. The illustrations drew them in first, but as they listened to the poetry and imagery in Mathew's words they became snuggly little loves and listened intently. This book is lovely. You are never too old for it, nor too young.

A gorgeous book
This book was especially chosen for my daughter's nephew. I was looking for a black character with a beautiful story line and gorgeous illustrations. This fit the bill, perfectly. The recipient absolutely loves it and requests it to be read every night.

Well written & illustrated.
Great book for reading at bedtime of anytime. It is a book that you can read to your child but once they are able to read will enjoy reading. I love the illustrations on each page allowing you to expand on the written words. Love the way each page is a written as a Poem which is easy to read and easier for child to follow.
