Belt with Panel Maximum Stoma and Hernia Support Compression by TYTEX

I recently purchased this belt to help support my persistomal hernia. This is the most comfortable belt I have had to date and I've been through far too many. I love that you can fit the hole of the belt to fit your ostomy cover. Every other bely hole has been too big and the hard plastic ends up causing me pain. I can't even tell I'm wearing it! The only thing that would make this support better is if you had an outer pocket to place the bag itself in to conceal it.

At the time of this review there are two different sizing charts in the photos depending on the item selected. the not-english chart with the 2xl&3xl sizes appears to be more correct at least for the 2xl size. This likely causes a lot of the size issues people are having.I thought the belt was too small when I put it on it worked out nice. I had to stretch the heck out of it to get it on, thinking no way that this size will work. But then after I got is secured it wasn't not too tight at all, almost looser than I expected. The belt is very stretchy. You really have to crank on it to get it on, so I see why they made the hand spot. But it has been great to wear, very comfortable and does not slide around at all on you.

First: use the right size chart, the one shown with the XL or XXX-L size, where a measurement at the stoma level of 102-116 cm corresponds to the XL size. (There's another size chart posted with the medium size photos which shows this size as medium - it's WRONG). After you find your correct size on the chart, ORDER THE NEXT LARGER SIZE because they run tight. Second: this product will work well only for certain body types since it is very wide. If you are tall, or your hips and waist are not very different in diameter (like the lean models in the photos) this may work well for you. I am short with wide hips compared to my waist and a low stoma. On me, the belt is uncomfortably tight at the hip and leaves a wide gap at the top. Aside from these cautions the product is well made, reasonably easy to put on, and customizable for your stoma size and position.

To small as stated size, need to order at least one size larger then stated in the sizing?

The fit is uneven especially if you have a hernia or a bit of fat in funny places. The place you slide your fingers into seems like a good idea at first, but it causes a gap just over the area that would have kept the pressure on the hernia. I've used other better belts [ the one's used for c section folk] before my ostomy. Will keep trying to find one that works better than this does. Also it very hot, more like a light girdle than a true support.
