The VideoGhost is a tiny hardware video-logger that silently records screenshots and stores them as JPEGs to an internal 2 Gigabyte flash disk. Simply connect the video-logger to the computer's VGA port, and it will automatically take a snapshot every few seconds. To view the recorded images, simply switch the device to flash drive mode, and it'll pop-up as a removable disk containing recorded JPEGs. This tiny frame-grabber is the first of its kind available on the market! Here are some of its features:Compatible with all VGA devicesSupports resolutions up to Full-HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) and WUXGA (1920 x 1200)Works with computers and external laptop monitorsNo power supply necessary (power is drawn from the USB port)Built-in JPEG encoder2 Gigabytes of internal memory in all versionsBuilt-in timestamping module and battery with over 7 years lifetime guaranteed! No software or drivers required, Windows, Linux, and Mac compatibleUltra compact and discrete, looks like an mini-extension cableTransparent to computer operation, undetectable for security scannersWorks out of the box, no configuration necessary! Does exactly what it says
I didn't need the VideoGhost for its potential surreptitious use; I just needed an inexpensive way to capture VGA frames from an embedded controller to illustrate its instruction manual. Most of the other solutions were aimed at full motion video and therefore much more expensive and needing drivers installed and relatively modern computers. I just set the VideoGhost to snapshot every 10 seconds and recorded a session as I operated the device, and got all the graphics I needed packed up conveniently as jpegs.
