Great just to have the pictures of a time in the musical evolution of this ‘old time’ music on the porches of America in the past. Especially enjoyable for those who, like myself, enjoy this music and have ancestors who played this music every chance they got.

I really enjoyed this collection of photos that chronicle the people, both famous and common, who paved the way for "Americana" music. Raw and gritty and I love it.

John Cohen's final book as far as I know, released posthumously. It presents images of southern mountain musicians in his somewhat dreamlike style, helping us understand the times in which they lived, and their surroundings. Highly recommended.
