long time FPS gamer.
I hear people complain about how they have a great computer yet the game play is jerky, the problem is that you have too many background programs running or your internet connection's bandwidth is really low. Battlefield is for GAMERS, it is not for novice players who wont learn. If you going to play battlefield make sure your computer is geared towards the task, battlefield does not require a really fast computer but it does help. make sure you have NO background programs running, make sure you have your firewall assign in/out permission to battlefield and make sure you have a FAST internet connection. you need at least a 1.5 DSL, any cable is better then DSL though. I guarantee you that if you meet those requirements and you learn how to play you wont be able to stop. Also remember that it not just about points, if you want to fly in a helicopter ferrying people back and forth do it, if you want to snipe and kill someone every hour then do it. there is no more enjoyable game than battlefield. also battlefield is a game where online play has practically no lag at all, so if you see lag it 90% of the time it is you and 10% the server. for people that always experience lag and have a high speed connection, fast computer with no backround programs, try to find a better online server. filter your servers to display only EA server's which are the fastest and try one of those rooms. if all else fails, reformat your computer, reinstall your OS, download all the patches, install only neccasary programs and of course battlefield then run it. it will fly fast, youd all be surprised how a monthly or bimonthly reformat of your computer will do wonders for your speed, also it will keep your HD living longer and running faster. if your computer seem's sluggish, reformat immediatly. once it starts to slow it's like holding a damn together with your hands, it will just keep getting slower. you'll be amazed when you reformat you'll think you bought a new computer. give battlefield a chance, there is a reason why it is one of the most popular games of all time on any platform. good luck, TEKONE*SF* [email protected]

Unusable
The computer game cannot be used. EA games requires their games to be played through their app which no longer supports the Vietnam game that was purchased. This information is available online. Request reimbursement .

Greatest soundtrack ever and non-stop carnage!
I played this game for years in multiplayer and then vs. bots when the servers ended and it never lost its appeal. The soundtrack alone makes it one of the best games ever. Hop in a huey or a tank and light up charlie while blaring CCR or flight of the Valkyrie. Tunnel through the US lines and pop-up behind them for a sneak attack! Grab a sniper rifle and support your troops from afar. However you like to play this game is hard to beat for the price!

I came to really enjoy BF Vietnam
I came to really enjoy BF Vietnam, as it had several interesting and realistic scenarios to play with. When it crashed, my IT dude tried to reconnect and discovered EA had disconnected its server. Had no plans to restart, however. Very disappointing. Do wish EA would leave servers connected for some of these older games for older folks. I'll do my best not to purchase any more EA games because of this and I rate this game zero if I could.

CAN YOU RUN THIS GAME?
CPU: AMD 2100 XP MEM: 768 Ram PC 2100 3d: ATI RADEON 9600 PRO 128 MB OS: Windows XP Internet: Cable Modem First I would like to thank those who write helpful comments and secondly I would like to recommend PC game reviewers to list their system's stats so your comments can be evaluated accordingly. That being said, I was very concerned about being able to run this game after reading some reviews, since I had pre-ordered it through Amazon thinking that if BF42 works this will work as well. I loaded it up last night and spent about 4 hours playing it on three different servers. Two of the servers were almost lag free and my fears were alleviated. When the game loaded it left the video settings at low, but the graphics are still beautiful and better than BF-42. I played on some maps with significant foilage and detail and my moderate computer chugged along fine. Maps loaded in less than a minute. (Note, the more memory you have the quicker maps will load.) Thus even if you only have a 1.2 GHZ processer but a recent graphics card and a good chunk of memory you can play this game fine. When upgrading it is always best (and cheaper) to start with the memory, followed by the video card if you don't get the performance leap you need. One annoyance I found was a possible audio bug- while I could hear my weapons fire fine, it seemed as though the weapons fire of enemies was very faint or non-existent at times, but tell tale because of visible tracer fire. This will likely be addressed by a patch if it is an actual bug. However, it didn't help when I first started playing and found myself being killed when it looked like no one was around. It didn't take long to realize that the dense foilage and grass in this game makes hiding and crawling much more useful than in BF42. If you had difficulty flying a plane with deadly accuracy in BF42 (even using a joystick) your hopes of being able to easily master a helicopter will probably be dashed. At least they are easier to blow out of the sky and the foilage makes getting killed from above, only after you have spent two minutes walking across the map, less of a likelihood than it was in BF42! That was one of the reasons I stopped playing BF42 and began playing Call of Duty multiplayer, which has no planes and is excellent by the way. Compared to Call of Duty the action is more lumbering but the learning curve can be steep for newbies. This game will probably favor hard core gamers who play every day rather than casual gamers. If you are the latter, Call of Duty is a much better choice. The bottom line is that the game is worth the money and there is enough new stuff here to keep it interesting.

1 of the Best Vietnam War games ever
This is the greatest Vietnam War game i have ever played! It isn't an objective based game, it's more of all out war. It is pretty expensive but i think it was worth buying. You can use most anything in this game, from helicopters to jets, from tanks to patrol boats. Drop into a hot LZ blasting the NVA or ambush U.S. patrol boats as the VC. Being able to change the enemy AI can make the levels a walk through the park or a challenge against experienced enemies. Losing all your spawn points and have to wait till one is taken back may happen once in a while but that makes the game more challenging. If you've played Battlefield 1942 and you liked it I'm pretty sure you'll like this game.

How disappointing!
I loved BF 1942, and it was with anticipation that I installed this new installment. Much to my dismay, this sequel feels more like an open-source mod than a whole new game. I fail to see the "great graphics" that some are talking about (I have a high-end PC/graphics card, thank you very much), and the game is full of bugs. The online aspect has been really buggy so far, with unacceptable lag. My biggest disappointment, however, was with the level design and the overall feel of the game. Whereas the levels in BF1942 (and its expansion packs) were brilliant and really conveyed a sheer sense of epic conflict, the levels here are 1)WAY too dark, 2)Too cramped and 3)Boring. I realize that the battlefields of vietnam were different from WWII, but all the levels end up looking exactly the same: hilly jungle. Far from creating tension, this results in boredom, as you skulk around looking for somebody to frag. All in all, if feels like a cosmetic update to what was a great WWII game.

Loads of fun
Fun to play although not exactly what I was hoping for. Still the game works great & haven't had a bit of trouble out of it . Works for older systems of windows.
