debut = their best
good ol' moonspell - wolfheart, what drove me to digging deeper into this album was, the artwork ( both original and reissued ) along with the the instrumental lua d'inverno. the music will remind you to re listen to arcturus, as well as the vocals from "langsuyar" is what most likely influence garm on LMI. only flaw i have with this album as well as every other moonspell is, when langsuyar does his talking passages in songs. irreligious is horrible for it. now this album is not for fans who dig their more recent releases, the vocals will not be pleasant to the listener's ear if they are use to the softer moonspell. overall my favourite from the spell.

The HEAVIEST Metal of the 90s!
Let's be honest: the 90s weren't a great decade for Metal (with grunge, industrial and "alternative" stealing it's thunder). Yet, in 1995 this diamond-in-the-rough surfaced from the unlikely location of Portugal and, 6 years later, it still has to be heard to be believed! Imagine Danzig meets the Doors meets Alice meets the Damned meets Maiden meets Slayer! So much energy you'll have to stagger away from your CD player! Best songs: "wolfshade", "midnight ride", "Trebaruna" (the only song NOT in English), "alma mater" and the certerpiece "erotic alchamy". While Moonspell would go on to do other great albums ("Sin Pacado", "Darkness & Hope") they would never do anything this HEAVY again (except for their Deamonarch side project). Along with "Purpose of The Cross" by Dave Benson, "Into the Unknown" by ROSE (1995), "EINS" by BOHSE ONKELZ, "Hellderado" by WASP (1999) and "Widows Weeds" by TRISTANIA (1997) "Wolfheart" is the best metal of the 90s!

Lua D'Amor
If you want purity and honest lyrics this is the band for you, Not only do i love the music but it has become a part of me as I can relate the lyrics to actual events in my life. The reason for me having bought this CD is that I had already Heard the beautiful words to all the songs. And the bonus CD. Live in Germany and France back in 96' I belive Is awesome! For those who are new and don't know Moonspell I recomend this 2 disk album to be your first as it is their first album.e perfeito! Eu não sei põr o nas palavras. Você apenas terá que compreender os poemas líricos e a honestidade das palavras

Remarkable album
This is the only album that I like from Moonspell. In fact, I love it. It's very dark. there are songs such as Alma mater that are amazing. Some others such as Trebaruna are very nice and interesting. The concert maybe is not as good. Maybe the 1 cd version is enough. But I highly recommend this album (whichever version) because the music from song to song is very diverse and it is a very good quality metal.

Great album, but misleading description by Amazon
The product description says this is the expanded digipack edition, and the picture of the back of the case is wrong. I received a regular jewelcase edition by Icarus Records.

Pretty good gothic / black metal
I first became interested in Moonspell after I heard "Alma Mater" and "Vampiria", which is why I decided to buy this album. These are the 2 best songs on the album, but there are no bad songs and the whole thing is worth a listen. Moonspell's music is in somewhat the same vein as Cradle of Filth's earlier music: gothic metal with some black metal leanings. Several of the songs utilise more melodic techniques such as female vocals (particularly on "Love Crimes") and keyboards. "Wolfshade" is one of the best songs on the album with a fantastic riff and a great atmosphere. "Vampiria" is a fairly self explanatory gothic masterpiece with haunting vocals and a fantastically catchy riff. "Alma Mater" remains one of Moonspell's most famous and popular songs, and for good reason. It's pretty heavy with amazing riffs and fantastic vocals, particularly the chorus which is sung in Moonspell's native language, Portuguese. Fernando's vocals are fairly awesome on the whole album, varying between ominous spoken sections, more typical black metal style screaming and surprisingly effective singing. He does have quite a strong Portuguese accent, but this is actually really cool. All the songs are sung in English apart from the odd, medieval/folk sounding "Trebaruna" and the chorus of "Alma Mater". On the whole, this is a really good album if you want to go back to the band's roots or if you are into gothic music at all. I would recommend them to fans of Cradle of Filth as well as they are similar in some ways.

In My opinion the best Moonspeel album of all
After I've lost My first issue of this album some time ago, I've bought it again and never regret this move. Sound of this remastered edition is nearly the same as original issue from '90. The same power, richness and dynamics. Definitely the most melodic album made by Portuguese lads. U can listen to it endlessly without any signs of tiredness, each time discovering something more. Will recommend to everybody.
