Amazing techniques as always
I occasionally meet people that I guess you can claim as dangerous. I want to know how to defend myself in case they have a weapon. I purchased this book and let me tell you. It’s extremely helpful and I learned some things I never knew before. The description is as accurate as it can be and I don’t want to reveal any information. Sam Fury is an amazing author and I learned so many tricks because of him.

Good info. Sometimes hard to interpret due to language difference. Overall, pretty good.

Fantastic!
A great resource for a lesser known but incredibly useful art. Wonderfully informative and provides great details into Escrima.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Was an easy to follow and understand book. No filler straight to the point. I recommend this book to novice and advanced self defense enthusiasts.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book has a very limited value for anyone desiring to learn Filipino stick and knife counters.
Books like this scare me. As someone has been seriously involved both as a student and teacher of numerous martial art and weapons systems (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Boxing, Arnis, Krav Maga, Kenjutsu, Wakizashi-Jutsu, Tanto-Jutsu, various models of guns and shot gun training) for more than 6 decades, I find it amazing and troubling when reading a book on knife defense techniques. Since I am also a collector of old and new books and manuals on all kinds of martial art and self-defense related material when I saw this book (Practical Escrima Knife defense: Defending yourself against knife attacks by Sam Fury-79 pages) on Amazon I decided to purchase it even though I did have some reservations about it.Being familiar with some of the Filipino stick and knife systems I hoped this short manual would contain what the title claimed (Practical???Knife defense??). Unfortunately, I fear anyone who attempts to actually learn the so called “practical knife” techniques shown in this manual will not only be disappointed, but without many years of training WITH AN INSTRUCTOR the reader may find him or herself bleeding from the numerous knife thrusts and stabs from anyone who actually knows how to use a knife. This volume covers the following material: explanation of the terms, principles of self-defense, attack and defense, knife stepping drills, breaks, universals, self-kills, knife flow drills, bonus- knife attack, bonus freebies, author recommendations, and survival fitness plan training manuals.I gave this manual 3 stars because it does have some good illustrations in an attempt to show the many techniques it is promoting against various knife attacks; however, as someone very familiar with weapon use and law enforcement defense tactics I am ALWAYS be very suspicious of any book, manual and instructor who claims to teach knife counter- techniques. Some of these techniques might work if someone is just trying to scare you and is only holding the knife on you as a threat; however, if the person is slashing and thrusting the knife at you, you will be in big trouble unless you combine using a gun or other weapon to counter the knife attack.I found this small manual to be of very limited value if you are interested in learning Filipino Arnis/Escrima techniques.Rating: 3 Stars. My opinion about this book
It's OK for flowing but not really for self defense very little stuff in the book are called self defense universal ill beg to differ but most of it would probably get you hurt or worse! Here's reality best knife defense is to not get yourself involved in the first place that's all I have on my mind

It seems to give a good idea of defence
It seems to give a good idea of defence, although I'm no good at such things at least I know what an attacker is likely to do. Thanks. John

Suicide squat !
O.K. I'm not an expert so I guess I will get a lot of bad comments from a lot of experts out of the net.But I had some years of Modern Arnis and Aikido and some self defense courses. So at least a little bit of knowledge is there. In the book there are dozens of techniques but I simply do not believe they work.First of all going inside a knife fighter doesn't sound like a good ideaA lot of these techniques goes head to head and does not care about the other hand ( is it realy empty?)I suppose even if it is empty you could get hit by it.What about moving or turning your body ?Blocking and grapping? For me it seems like suicide !Then lots of techniques, what about the easy ones and drilling and repeating over and over again ???Pour pictures/drawingsSo I really can't recommend this !!!
