Top Drawer Arrangements by Lee Evans of the Classic Songs by Jerome Kern
This is another wonderful volume of arrangements by Lee Evans, and I highly recommend it to those of you who love the classic songs of Jerome Kern. The arrangements in this volume are sometimes easy, sometimes harder, but overall in the intermediate range. As always in the arrangements of Lee Evans, the arrangements are stylish, elegant, and often touching. In particular, I love Lee Evans's arrangements of "All the Things You Are," "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," "A Fine Romance," "I Won't Dance," "I'm Old Fashioned," "The Last Time I Saw Paris," "Long Ago (And Far Away)," "Look For the Silver Lining," "Ol' Man River," "The Song is You," "The Way You Look Tonight," "Why Do I Love You?," "Why Was I Born?," and "Yesterdays." All of the arrangements are a pleasure to read through at the piano, and I'm sure that you will find many things to love in this volume as I have. This volume also features a lay-flat binding, so you won't have to fight to keep the music open. If you are unfamiliar with the arrangements of Lee Evans, this volume is a good an introduction as any to his elegant and "just right" arrangements. With 117 pages of music, this volume is a steal. If you happen to be familiar with Lee Evans's arrangements but don't happen to have this particular volume, I recommend it to you mostly highly as vintage Lee Evans!

Less is not more
Unlike the other reviewers, I find these arrangements quite distasteful. Instead of opening up Kern's own harmonies, making them more rich and luxurious, this arranger cramps up the harmonies. They are not fun to play or to listen to.PS Upon further study of these arrangements, I have to say I like them quite a lot better. I now find that there are at least eleven of these that I like quite a lot and feel I can play in public. There are still some I don't care for and his treatment of Kern's greatest song, "All the Things You Are", wanders all over the map and is not convincing.

good arrangements and good choise of songs
These are great arrangements. They are not terribly difficult, but they are interesting. I would say, they could be played by an solid intermediate player. There are a lot of songs in the book. Esp if you are playing for an older crowd they will know the songs. If they don't, the songs are still very likeable, and the arrangements are good.

Love it
I have a few of Lee Evans Arranges and I always enjoy his renditions. This one is especially good for intermediate players.

Great arrangements but poor editing
Fabulous arrangements. However, I’ve bought it as it has an ABRSM Grade 7 alternative piece, and I was very disappointed to see the piece has quite a significant typo (a missing treble clef in the left hand). I really hope this doesn’t lead to anyone messing up their exam piece.
