Hunger Games with more blood and explosions!
I bought this book on a whim- I was bored, having re-read my Higurashi volumes so many times, I needed something new. And my God, I could not have chosen a better book. This book begins with Ryouta Sakamoto- 22, unemployed for 2 years and #10 worldwide and #1 in Japan in the virtual world of the online game BTOOOM!, a world which he has become addicted to, never leaving his room except for the natural to-and-fros of normal life. Then, all of a sudden, he wakes up hanging from a tree in a tropical forest- from a parachute. With no memory of recent events, our unfortunate nerd quickly realizes that he now has to play his favourite game, where he conquers all, in real life.Brilliant story premise, the main character is a fresh breath of air from all the shonen and Higurashi I've been reading, the art is beautiful, and the changes Ryota goes through on the island really leave you wondering: is he really willing to give up his moral code for survival? WARNING: NOT FOR THOSE UNDER 18!

Excellent
After watching the anime i just had to pick up the manga and start reading! BTOOOM! is something similar to The Hunger Games and Battle Royale our hero awakes on an island with no recollection of how he got their the only thing he has is a bag containing 10 BIMS (the books name for various types of bombs) He is almost instantly attacked and the book picks up at phenomenal pace from the moment it begins and pretty much doesn't stop till you finish. This book will have you dying to read the second volume.BTOOOM! Also has some of the best artwork I've ever seen in a manga the characters are expressive and the action is frantic and excellently drawn. For any manga fans i'd say this was a must read but if you're uncertain i'd suggest maybe checking out the anime first which is available on Crunchyroll :)One word of warning this volume and all the volumes of BTOOOM! are definitely meant for mature audiences and adults especially the second novel which contains full nudity and some scenes some readers might have find disturbing. I don't want to go into details because it'll ruin the story but just be warned this story is definitely not for children.
