I have been using this lighter for several months now and have noticed that the internal charger does not always fully charge the battery. As I have a suitable external charger this has not been an issue for me. One thing I have found is that the battery contacts appear not always to make proper contact - take the battery out and clean the contacts, replace the battery and turn it a few times to help good contact, and try again. If OK fine, if the charging light still does not go off then, if you have a voltmeter, check the battery voltage, should be NO MORE than 4.2V MAX! If it is less than 3.0V then the charger is not working at all. If still not working then return, it has a fault, if it is trying to overcharge the battery this is dangerous. Final note, apart from the battery contact issue, and the need to regularly brush the arc plate clean, I think this a brilliant lighter!

Its an electric lighter. No flints in it. It has electrodes which usually don't need to be replaced.
