This Emerson Easy-Reader is wonderful. It can easily be read with its blue back lighting. It is great for Seniors because it can serve as a night light in the hallway. If the light is too bright at night, I put Velcro on both a black piece of paper and on the one side of the thermostat. It softens the light. I remove this in the morning. This thermostat is nice. It is easy to use and looks great.

Installed this in my grandmothers house who was having problems with her old thermostat and the "slide" heat/off/AC. As in she was not able to stop and either went far right or left causing her furnace/air to be confused and basically locking it up in the on position. This new thermostat made life so much simpler for her - she has been using a week now with no problems turning Heat on or off. She is also able to easily adjust the temperature with nice big buttons. The display allows her to see the room temperature and the thermostat setting - simplicity at its best! Installation took about 10 min install and have up and running in the basic mode - did not use the programmable features and did not buy for that reason. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who is dealing with an elderly at home person to eliminate confusion on the thermostat! Great product!

This thermostat is easy to read and does the job well. In addition it is programmable. You can set times to raise and lower the temperature for both heating and air conditioning. The only issue is that it will. To adjust both heating and air conditioning without setting it to either heat or a/c. In other words you cannot have it turn on some heat in the morning and then switch to a/c for the afternoon. The temperature reading is adjustable also so if it is a little off you can correct it. The thermostat has a setting to make the house warm or cool at the time you program it. This means it turns on the heat or a/c before the set time. It didn’t like this so I turned this feature off. Now if I want the heat to come on at 6:00 am then it comes on then and not earlier. I like the thermostat and would buy it again.

The thermostat is great once installed and programmed. Tech support is also outstanding. I had to call them twice, the second time I was on the phone with them for over half an hour. They were so busy that I had to leave a message for them to call me back. THEY DID. Both times about an hour later. That's were the 5 stars come to an end. The instructions that come with the unit are USELESS. I watched youtube videos for the physical installation, very helpful. However, little help on youtube for programming. The biggest problem I had was I couldn't get the thermostat to run properly in program mode. My fan would stay on, never shut off. The reason for that is it comes programmed for a heat pump. I don't have a heat pump, I have a new single stage system. I spent a half hour on the phone with tech support trying to figure this out. Helpful hint, make sure you tell them what type of system you have up front, it will save you a lot of time. Tech support was also patient and polite. That's more than I can say for myself. Like I said its a great thermostat once you work through the kinks. I would definitely buy again.

Best Thermostat I ever installed. Easy to see and read. Best control layout, making it so simple to use for anyone. Plus the nicest, clean looking big display, with the nice blue back light. Like the way it works. This unit I bought to replace the original 13 year old Honneywell round manuel unit installed when house was built. It had been acting up, but boy, what a difference. Makes my ageing Heating and Cooling system feel like everything is just working so much better, although I'm sure it just feels that way. :-). Still the control is so accurate now, down to the exact degree you set it for. Simple installation anyone can do in no time at all. Looks great too. Smart design. Really love the product and would recommend to anyone to replace even the common digital units sod today..

When our old Honeywell thermostat quit working, I looked for a replacement. At $400, just for the thermostat alone, thought this was ridiculous. Started researching the features I wanted - easy to read, back light, easy buttons to utilize thermostat functions, etc., etc.This thermostat hit them all. I have a high-efficiency 2-stage natural gas furnace and electric air conditioner and I spoke with White-Rodgers (Emerson) before purchasing to see how all the wires hooked-up and crossed-over from the Honeywell system. Their customer service was superb in telling me which wires went where and also at explaining what they all meant. (This was even before I purchased the unit.) Once I got the unit (fairly quick ship), I would say it took less than 10 minutes to hook-up. It works perfect -- even better than the old Honeywell unit I had and is truly easy to see and adjust. So happy with this one, am thinking about replacing the thermostat on a second unit that our home has. For someone who is very meticulous, I have nothing bad to say about this unit and the price offered via Amazon.

Update- After 9 months of having two of these units in service on two single stage heat pumps it is apparent that the thermostat's maximum cycle rate width of 1.7 Degrees F (Dead band) is much two fast for a heat pump. Normal run time for my units, in heat mode, is 25 min. The Emerson Thermostats are cycling on for 12 to 13min. and off for 18 to 19min. I talked with Emerson tech. and 1.7 F is the widest the cycle rate can be. The bottom line is these thermostats SHOULD NOT BE SPECIFIED OR USED FOR HEAT PUMP APPLICATONS DUE TO EXCESSIVE CYCLING. The excessive cycling will result in more ware on the HVAC Heat pump system. Original post.- Thermostat is very easy to read. "C" wire is not required but if you want the back light on full time it is recommended. Programing cycle times is a little confusing. But the real difficulty comes when configuring the the system interface software. If you are not familiar with thermostat control terminology dot try to configure this without a professional on hand. Now for the real downers. 1)The included instruction for a hard rest are totally incorrect. Pressing UP, Down, and fan for 5 sec. will perform a hard reset. 2)The unit appears to be highly susceptible to small voltage spikes which may change the configuration settings. 3) Changing the setpoint will override the program for 2 hours. ( program will not take control even if it is programed to do so). This is unacceptable if you are on a time of use billing with you electric company

The screen is hard to read.

Temperature display is accurate. Easy to install. Directions alright - better than most. Not using the programmable days feature. Did figure out how to set display To Celsius. Very - very - very pleased with this unit - will buy again and again. I recommend this thermostat to people that ask about thermostats.

they sent me this thermostat but it is not a 7 day programmable, unless their paper work is wrong! IT STATES THAT THIS IS NOT A PROGRAMABLE THERMOSTAT. Shame...

Well this was a no brainer for us we had the same model that had a rough life in a back storage room. So we figured it worked we for this long in this environment that we would get the same model two reasons one it worked and two no wiring at all.
