Good story line, horrible writing
I got this one for free on my Kindle, and am kinda glad. While the story line was intriguing, the writing is horrible. I finished reading it because 1) I rarely start a book that I don't finish, and 2) I wanted to see what was going to happen. I'm not sure who the editor was for this book, but it definitely needs to go back to the factory! So many grammatical and spelling mistakes, and I even noticed a couple times that the wrong names were used. I'm no English major, but always pick up on things like this, so it was sort of like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. With some editing, and a better, unrushed ending, it would really be a much better book.

Poor writing skills obscure plot
I may have to try this book again but this is what stopped me: within the first paragraph, and on several other pages at the beginning of the book were grammatical errors! Honestly, a person who calls himself a writer but doesn't know the difference between "your" and "you're?" And who doesn't know the right word is to "wile" away the time where he wrote to "while" away the time. There may well be an interesting plot in this book but to find these and many other errors within the first few pages turned me off. I hope and pray that using proper English is not a dead art.

Great book, but overlook grammatical errors
I agree with the other reviews; lots of grammatical errors (I will probably have a few in this review), but don't let the errors keep you from this book. It was a great read for the money with an ending I did not see coming. Doug is a spoiled, rich young man, used to getting his way no matter who he hurts or "murders" along the way. Once the deed is done and he has a life changing experience, Doug is a changed man. Even his closest friends notice the positive change in Doug. But we have what's called Karma ... what goes around, comes around.

Uncomfortable reading
I will not be reading 97% of this book. The first 3% showed too many errors for it to make comfortable reading - loose instead of lose, abused apostrophes, a capital letter in the wrong place, to instead of too. It's a shame really as the storyline was quite appealing.

The Oaks
Book started very slowly, but I kept reading. As it became even more farfetched in the story line, I just gave it up. Not my kind of read.

Not Recommended
Like reading a novel written for a child. It contains many grammatical errors and typos. I would not recommend this title.

Did he even try spellcheck?
Finding simple spelling and grammatical errors is no big deal with todays word processing software. However, this author doesn't seem to have discovered that bit of technology and his book suffers for it. Really "Normal Rockwell" for "Norman Rockwell"? Errors on just about every page. This author had NO editor and it shows. The story was so-so and the writing was was very pedestrian. I won't be reading any more of his works!
