The Official Downton Abbey Cocktail Book: Appropriate Libations for All Occasions (Downton Abbey Cookery)

I bought these hard cover books as a gift to my husband. We watch the show together. There are nice pictures of the cast throughout the pages and history of the recipes. Was pleasantly surprised that the covers were a cloth material. These look great on our bookshelf and we enjoy using them.

I've owned this book for almost 3 months now, and I haven't even finished it yet, because I keep finding new drinks to try one nearly every page. I've never watched an episode of Downton Abby, but I love a good cocktail, and I'm a fan of the drinks in the Savoy Cocktail Book, which this one takes HEAVY inspiration from, and adds VERY interesting, and delicious variations on.Also it's exquisitely bound and has beautiful full-color photographs.

It not only contains some unique and tasty drinks, the presentation is beautiful too. If you don't want it for your own home bar or celebration, it would make a nice gift.

When we have company its so much fun to take this book out and make some drinks from it. These are not your fruity drink though. These drinks will make you realize how tough you had to be 100 years ago.

This is a great cocktail book for serious cocktail enthusiasts, and the Downton connection is of course a bonus. There's a lot of good information in here in terms of contextualizing the drinks. The only thing I'd suggest is that they should have included notes about rare ingredients. There are many items listed with no explanation that I've never heard of, and we are a family of cocktail lovers with an old fashioned bar and many interesting ingredients on our shelves.The cover is beautiful and tactile - overall I think this is a fantastic addition to any "cookbook" library, bar or even as a coffee table book (although it is small). Makes for good perusing as well as being a reference manual.
