Q: what the difference between this and the Everdrive v2.5?

Q: Does this device still require a controller pak for some game saves, or are they all now saved on the SD card?

A Controller Pak is still required for games that need it. There is a utility in the OS that will allow you to backup and restore the contents of your Pak to the SD Card, so you don't need to worry about running out of space.

Q: This is way over priced by 230 dollars ?

For the compatibility it offers, the ability to add emulation software and the fact that it's produced and shipped from Ukraine to the US, the price is fairly reasonable. The cartridge is the the cost of 5 modern titles priced into one, sure. But, for being able to access the entirety of the Nintendo 64 library, including region-locked titles and play them natively on an N64 as they were originally meant to be played, can you say it's really overpriced for all it offers? It comes with built in NES emulation, meaning not only do you get N64 compatibility, but you can play NES games without requiring a NES. Every game I've tested so far, from classics like Pokemon Stadium to Super Mario 64 work flawlessly, and obscure classics like Rocket: Robot on Wheels run perfect as well. You will have to supply your own ROMs however as the cartridge does not come with any.

Q: Can someone recommend a micro sd card

Can't go wrong with SanDisk. I believe the one in mine is 16GB, since it was in my old phone. And that's plenty of space for backups.
