Nushine Silver Plating Solution 1.7 Oz - permanently plate PURE SLIVER onto worn silver, brass, copper and bronze (ecofriendly formula)

Got a necklace (costume jewelry) from Disney World and I lived in it without taking it off for over a month and it started to show wear. Before I did anything I deep soaked the necklace in hot water and dawn dish soap to degrease it then dried it completely. This stuff brought my piece back to life. It was badly tarnished so it took 2 passes but it definitely works well at restoring. I don’t know how well it holds up since I did it the day I’m writing this but at least I know I can touch it up whenever needed.

Didnt work. I returned it and they charged me $39.02 again. It has not been resolved even though i have a return receipt

I was curious. My mom gave me a silver tray that had spots of copper showing. I wondered if this would work. It worked beautifully. It will not smooth out scratches, but covered the copper nicely with one coat. You can probably repair several pieces with one tiny bottle. (Dark spot on after pic is a reflection.) I'm impressed.

I stripped the polish from my silver jewelry a few days ago in attempting to clean them after my mother had given me the two bracelets and ring. In looking at how to restore them, I came across this plating solution. While it does seem somewhat expensive, it's certainly less so than replacing these pieces (the James Avery necklace alone goes for $185), and also less expensive than buying the equipment to electroplate. I didn't even consider taking these to a jeweler because I knew that would cost nearly as much as getting the equipment and materials to do it myself. I went somewhat heavy on the solution based on reviews saying it didn't last. I also plan to allow these time to sit out before wearing them in hopes that helps with longevity. I'm fairly pleased with my purchase, but I'll come back here and update if the product does seem like it has weak adhesion. I don't wear silver as much as gold, so I think that will also help allow the product time to cure (since it is starting wet, after all).

Ok. This is a very powerful tarnish remover, which is why I am giving it two stars. I t definitely goes beyond the typical tarnish remover like the kind you dip jewelry in or the average cream. But I would NOT say this is a "plating solution" AT ALL. To call it that would mean something that goes much further than a heavy tarnish remover. I will admit, I have not tried any others and only embarked on salvaging some items which belonged to my grandmother, due to sentimental value, however, I would say this would be a good way to remove very heavy tarnish BEFORE using a true re-plating solution. It also seems to vary depending on the thickness of the item. It worked pretty well on a thin silver plate bread basket without too much effort, where a regular tarnish remover was not very effective. So dont expect any miracles on something weighty. And also, when I didnt get the results on the items with more heft, I expected that if I repeated the process again it would "fill- in" where the original plate was pours, like any layering material might do -- paint, porcelain??) But not with this. it just got more smudged and I spent most of the time getting smudges off of this antique item, I will try to add a pic, but it was pretty much a waste of the product and actually made it worse because the black debris from attempting to re-apply ended up on the cloth and my gloves. It also smells pretty bad, you MUST be in a ventilated are a near a window or outside. I am allergic to a lot of things, so very aware of this. I dont trust to use this completely inside and DO NOT use around pets -- NO WAY. Wash your hands immediately after using and it will dry your hands out, so do everything you can to protect them. All that being said, it is excellent at removing tough tarnish, but it is NOT effective at re-plating. These are two different things

This stuff DOES work but you have to do it right and, it takes a bit of time. I bought an old dresser to refinish. When I got all of the paint removed from the drawer pulls, I found out they were brass. I wanted to keep them, but wanted them silver so I bought this stuff. After polishing the hardware and removing all the tarnish, I made sure they were super clean. I used a different method then what was directed by the instructions, because it just worked better for the intricate parts. I grabbed a bunch of cotton and a paint brush. Working in very small areas, dip the brush in the silver solution once and apply it to the piece. Massage it in with the brush for a few seconds. It will change color immediately to a dark silver when applied. Wipe the brush clean on a paper towel. Then take a cotton ball and buff out the rest. You may need to do several coats in each area. Don't get impatient and try to apply too much with the brush, because it won't work. Don't use a dirty cotton ball, or brush because it will effect the result and won't work as well. Clean your brush on a paper towel for EACH application, and dont reuse a dirty cotton ball.

I ordered this as a necklace of mine had begun to tarnish and the copper was beginning to show. The delivery was very promt, it came about 9 days prior to the estimated delivery. Which is obviously a bonus. Just done the first application and I am very impressed. Admittedly there were a few small marks still left and in places the copper appeared less prominent, however I had allowed the necklace to get into a pretty bad state and I was very pleased with how well the necklace came up. Im hoping that with some further maintenace that it will be as good as new. Its made it very shiny and the silver appears to have been replated. Worth the money, and as I only have a few small items this will probably last me quite some time.
