Descendants: Mal's Spell Book

Got as a birthday gift and shipped it to my best friends daughter since we couldn’t make it to the party she was saving and she’s into descendants and that was the theme. He just texted me that she absolutely loves it and is so thankful. So that’s a win. My friend 8 year old daughter approved 🤣

Bought this for my 10 year-old niece who is a hardcore fan of the Descendants series. Mal is her favourite so I had to get this as soon as I came across it. The book is great quality, with lots of cool spells (including the ones seen in the films), notes from Mal and the other VKs, and other interesting tidbits and entries about some of the other characters from the first film. The layout and images are very detailed, the font is a good size and easy to read, and overall it really feels like you're holding an old world spell book. It's a great collectible for any Descendants fan, particularly if your favorite is ofc Mal!

Great item to add to your collection.

My 7-year-old daughter is obsessed with all things Descendants and so I thought this would be an awesome Christmas gift for her. I was a little disappointed to later realize that it’s not simply a pretend book of spells but instead, a book with some spells and lots of commentary from Jay, Carlos, Mal, and Evie. Each character ‘writes’ in a specific colors and so their commentary is scattered through all the pages of the book. It’s sometimes difficult to follow along and overall, just not exactly what I was expecting. She still has fun with it and has read some of it, but I think that she too was expecting a pretend play ‘spell book’ and this fell short of her expectations. I’m including a few photos of some sample pages just to provide a closer and more thorough look at what to expect from the book – hope that’s helpful to others!

My niece is a huge fan girl for the Descendants as of recently, so I got her this and another book based on the characters along with another Descendants-themed gift. I flipped through some of the pages before gifting it & found the material to be quirky and adorable. Very happy with this purchase!

My daughter is a Mal fanatic. She wanted this for Christmas, but it was sold out everywhere. I was finally able to get it, and since other moms had expressed concerns about the content being appropriate, I decided to read it first.I'm VERY protective of her, and probably shield her more than I should. She's 7, so I did initially have concerns about the content being too mature. I found that the content was very normal and appropriate for kids, especially preteen/teen, which was the perspective from which it was written.You know your kid. If you find Austin & Ally to be too mature for your child, this book might be too mature for them, also. Otherwise, I don't see an issue. If you're concerned, read it first. If your child has a pretty good grasp on life, I didn't see anything in it that they would need shielded from seeing.
