Nice quality - smaller footprint
The Wilton 450-P is manufactured in China to Wilton specs and is a terrific choice for a compact multi-purpose vise. The jaws are 4.5" wide and the vise weighs in at a very reasonable 21 lbs. There is a big size/weight difference between the 450-P and the next size up Wilton vise, the 5.5" wide 550-P, which weighs in at over 40 lbs. I didn't need a vise that large, so given my installation constraints, the 450-P got the nod. I read the reviews in which people complained about damage to their vises that occurred during shipping. With that in mind, I specified during checkout that the vise be shipped in an outer box that concealed the contents, as well as in its original factory packaging. I figured that two boxes, an inner one and an outer one, would give it the best chance of arriving undamaged. The vise was shipped to me via UPS directly from Wilton in Laverne TN. Wilton placed the already sturdy box that the vise came in from the factory in a second, industrial strength outer cardboard box (not a lightweight Amazon box), together with some brown packing paper to cushion the inner factory box and to minimize its movement during shipment. Happy to say that the vise arrived in pristine condition. In fact, both inner and outer boxes showed no signs of trauma from rough handling. (Thanks UPS!) I would highly recommend that anyone buying one of these Wilton vises also request double boxing from Amazon. The vise is well constructed and its smaller footprint for a multipurpose vise fits my workspace perfectly. The jaws align beautifully and are removable in case they ever need to be replaced. Prior to installation, I applied grease to the moving parts of the vise and that improved the already smooth rotation of the vise and it's jaws. I also added 4.5" wide rubber jaw inserts that I found on Amazon for use when clamping more delicate objects. Included with the vise is a parts list with numbers and an exploded view diagram. All the parts apparently can be ordered from Wilton in case that need ever arises. This is a very well constructed and well supported vise that should last several lifetimes. While it's smaller and more expensive than many other multipurpose vises, in my view, it's better engineered, constructed and supported by the manufacturer than the lower priced competition.

Good vice, built well!
This vice is awesome, is built well. Everything works as should. The jaws lineup, has a nice big base for mounting. I would recommend this Wilton over any of the blue ones on Amazon. Definitely a good choice. I would do it again if I needed a second one. Highly recommended!!!

Perfect Multi Project Vise
Great product, very high quality. I wanted a great vise with the ability to rotate for gunsmithing, but also be able to use for various other tasks and this works perfect. You can use 7/16" or 1/2" bolts for mounting it to a workbench.

Well made
Nice vice, swivels easy fir the most part. You just need to back the t handles out anout 3 turns. To rotate to the pipe jaws is super easy and holds position good. Fir the price and capability it can’t be beat.

Pleased So Far
Like others mentioned, these aren't packaged for the kind of handling they'll receive in transit. Despite the destroyed box, mine arrived undamaged. All adjustment screws/levers were straight and intact. USA made or not, this is a well built vise for the home mechanic or hobbyist. The jaws are straight and replaceable. The slide is well machined and the included scale is relatively accurate. The screw/crank action on mine is very smooth. There's so little resistance that I can zip the jaws out/in with 1 finger. I omitted a star because the finish between the base and vise was already chipping when I disassembled it to mount to my workbench. Which leads to my next complaint: even my junky box store 4" vise has bearings between the base and body. This does not. If used in a humid area, eventually the finish will wear off and the 2 will rust solid. That said, this is light years better than a cheapo box store vise. Flipping from vice to pipe clamp only requires a 1/4 turn of the set screw and a butter smooth twist of the jaws. The jaws themselves are perfectly square and made of high quality material. I used a high quality firearm grease w/PTFE to lubricate the area and prevent rust. Hope it helps. I plan to follow another reviewer's advice and install tapered springs to make the base rotation easier. I hosed the slide, screw, and nut down with silicone spray and am very pleased with the ease of adjustment. For the price, I'm good. It should last me a lifetime of household projects and hot rod builds, so I feel the price is reasonable.

Great Vise
Wilton makes vises. This one is designed and built with the DIYer in mind. 2 months after getting it mounted to the workbench, wife asked if I've used it yet. Told her I haven't stopped using it (Use it on a daily basis). It's big, heavy and strong.

Great for the money
Excellent vice has done everything I have ever needed it to do. I’ve put it through a lot and it nas yet to let me down. It has rusted some but hasn’t effected the functionality any

It's a Beast, and the last one I ever hope to buy
My old $150 Harbor Freight vise cracked in half (they do that when you use a cheater bar), so I needed to replace it, and was willing to bust the budget to get one that would last long enough to be part of my estate (ha-ha). I'd read great things about the Wilton brand; it appears they've been making beefy vises for a long, long time. I opted for this multi-purpose style, as it has a rotating jaw assembly, with both flat and pipe/round-stock jaws. My last vise used a similar layout, an it is incredibly versatile. This Wilton was the largest one in that style, and it is an absolute beast @ 53 lbs. Only had it a short while, but it appears to be absolutely fine. I want to replace the swivel hold-down hardware with some socket-head bolts, then use a long T-handle Allen wrench for faster/easier repositioning.

Solid piece of kit
These vices are rebranded by snap on. For those in the know, you get what you pay for. Enough said!

Looks good on the bench
Decent vise, for the price I expected the castings and the fasteners to be a bit higher end. Good for holding moderate size pieces, jaws are accurate enough for holding small pieces. Not a vise for clamping a piece of steel in and beating it into submission.
