Great intro cam and good enough for the advanced user
I was mulling between this cam, a lower model and a creative cam... I am happy with my choice. The cam can sit on a desk, can be swiveled accordingly and also sit on a flat screen... I have a laprop - its sits safely enough on it... A headset - a basic model is enclosed, most people would be happy with it...it only needs a volume control thing on it to be perfect... This is my first webcam - I was up and running withing 5 min literally. Installation took 2 min and after a reboot the cams video and audio was adjusted and the pic and vid was perfect. The software is straightforward - its not very advanced - but then I would get something from a third party anyway for editing etc. The avatars and video effects are simple fun effects. A little gimmicky but entertaining enough. The picture quality and lighting is perfect, audio is good too. Within minutes I sent a video email and had a webcam conversation too. Resolution on vids is max 640x480 and pics 1.3 MP - satisfactory for the web...remember with higher res. comes higher occupied HD space and larger files... All in all I would recommend this cam. In fact I will get my parents one aswell..

Good webcam, but for the tracking function. Poor support.
After reading reviews on several sites, I bought my first webcam to use Skype. The good: Easy installation Good image quality, depending on lighting conditions though. Good headphones with integrated microphone. As I use the headphones, I can not comment on echo issues. The less good Face tracking function does not work. Poor support: Microsoft support desk is unresponsive, so I gave up after 2-3 e mail exchanges unable to fix the issue. And as the sound and static image do the trick, could not bother sending it back. Do not buy it if you have a laptop, as having to set the camera up each time is tedious: Buy then a laptop webcam.

Really Fab Web Cam - Perfect for SKYPE
Didn't have a clue what I was looking for, when my mother-in-law told me about SKYPE and her Logitech web cam, but I thought I would give it a go, as this camera wasn't too expensive. I am no computer whizz, but I found set-up and installation fairly simple (all done within the hour). I am amazed at the picture quality and it is so lovely for my mother-in-law to see the grandkids regularly as she lives in the States. Think this camera is so simple, with great results that I am even going to get my mum one, so that she can SKYPE her sister in Oz. Great product, simple to use.

Good webcam
I had read the reviews of this webcam and some other webcams too. I decided to go for it with a thought that it would be a good piece justifying the cost and I am glad that it stood up to my expectations. The installation was easy. As warned by a previous reviewer, I didn't install the software using the CD provided. I visited the logitech website and downloaded it from there and installed. The webcam was up and running on my HP laptop in minutes. I mainly use it with Skype where it performs well. I tried using it with Yahoo! IM however, it appears to hang for few seconds intermittently. Didn't try with any other IM. Overall, this should be a decent buy. Would suggest to read other reviews where people had been having problems and check if you have similar hardwares. The "Home Delivery Network Limited" who were supposed to deliver this item simply put the box outside my house in driveway and left as none of us was at home. I obviously didn't get the package. Thanks to Amazon who prompty sent me another item for free via Royal Mail.

A great camera but...........
I've had this camera for some while now so my review is one of some experience with this product. It was quick to set up but scared the life out of me when I got the 'blue screen of death'. However, it was a one off occurance only and switching off the PC (a Dell Dimension 3000 running XP) cured the problem. The camera itself works well although I cannot get the Avotars to work. This may be due to the lighting which comes in from a side window leaving one side of my face quite poorly lit. As they are more a bit of fun than anything else, it's not a major problem but you may want to be aware that their function is not guaranteed. My main gripe, and the reason for the downrating to three stars is as follows. Despite Logitech's claim about the inbuilt mike having voice cancelling facilities, you will not get a phone like conversation with a mike and a loudspeaker as if the other party talks at the same time as you, there is (and needs to be) an automatic cut off to avoid feedback (that horrifying high screech noise that you sometimes hear). It is better therefore to use headphones but try as I might I cannot get the PC to recognise the mike part of the headset. Review the Logitech website and see the problems reported there - it's a real problem. Also, Logitech were less than helpful when I emailed them. So, to sum up, the camera works well with lots of adjustment, the base is flexible and so sits neatly on a flat screen top or on a desk and the drivers now work well. If you want a true phone conversation then be aware of the headset problem. Since writing this review the Blue Screen of Death has raised its ugly head again. For those who have not experienced it, it reads something like "A serious fault has occured and Windows is shutting down to prevent damage to your computer.........." This is a common problem with this web-cam as attested by others. I now believe my original 3 star rating was too generous. This kind of problem downrates the product to 1 star at best.

Good Hardware, Bad software, Awful support
The camera arrived within a reasonable time. Installation was quick and easy, but it messed up the sound on my PC, so that all sound came through the headphones instead of the speakers. I did nto explicitly select an option to do this, nor could I find one to undo it. The camera itself worked wonderfully. And I took some excellent pictures. Aside from the sound issue, everything seemed fine. It wanted me to restart my PC to finish installation, so I then did so. After restarting, though .The PC refused to boot up. Just after the windows Xp loading screen, my screen turned black and stayed that way. I was unable to start the PC , and after several attempts, the safe mode options came up. I chose to rollback to last knwon good configuration, which uninstalled the camera software, and allowed the PC to start as normal. I contacted logitech's technical support, and in response I got a generic "heres some stuff to try" reply.I followed all the instructions without avail . reinstalling the camera brought the exact same unable to start problem. And I was left with no choice but to uninstall all trace of it.# I told the tech support guys (typically, indian) who did not respond. I sent a farther email after that, which they also did not respond to. In the end, I got a few pics which was what I wanted it for, but it almost cost my whole PC. And their tech support was utterly useless. Though the camera itself is a fine product, the software powering it and the tech support team both have serious problems, and as a result, I would not recommend this product to anyone until it's technical issues are resolved. As an addendum, I managed to get the camera working without the software. ANd it's wonderfully high res, and works fine. I can't adjust many settings for it without the software though, but at least it works, sort of.

XP Compatibility Issue - Great Camera, shame about the drivers!
I have a Quickcam Pro 4000 at work which works fantastically well, quality of sound and picture is great. So because I'm off travelling for work soon I thought let me get a camera for home so I could keep in touch with my family. I bought the Quickcam Pro 5000 expecting great things. Sure enough the image quality and sound were much improved and my kids enjoyed the gimicky software that comes with it. Great I thought, everything worked fine for a few days then WHAM .... blue screen and automatic restart!! The only way I could get out of it was by unplugging the webcam and shutting down the machine. I have since looked on Logitech's forum and found it is a known problem that they are working on. They say there is a workaround which I tried but it didnt work for me. With regret I have had to return the webcam to Amazon stating it was incompatible with my system. For the record Amazon's returns service is excellent with a full refund after a matter of days. So come on Logitech sort it out, you have a great product which if people have XP loaded with all the latest updates and service packs will cause problems!

Excellent product - also happens to be low price
This is a cheapish webcam, but it performs marvellously! I have bought five for family to use with Skype Video. All were installed quickly (remember to switch antivirus and firewalls off before install, and back on again afterwards). All perform very well indeed in a variety of lighting conditions. Now I can see family members as well as talk to them! The unit itself is not "tiny", being about 5cm diameter at the head, and 7cm for the support (see picture above), but it is lightweight and easily transported. I have just travelled to Prague with the camera in my hold luggage and it has survived perfectly well. All in all an excellent product and a very low price. Get one!
