Is year-round Grass-fed the same as 100% grassfed, why does every other brand say 100%, and y'all don’t?

The “100% Grass-fed Claim Whey” is very popular and serves as a beneficial red flag for the consumer when it comes to many brands. There are several interpretations such as, the product only contains what the seller is claiming to be grass-fed whey, thus “100% grass-fed whey”. It’s also common for brands to source whey from farms that put the animals through a “grass-fed finishing process.” Due to lack of regulation on this claim, technically, if the animal meets a finishing requirement (a certain number of days on pasture), the milk can be sold as “100% Grass-Fed Milk”. To most consumers, however, (and the brands understand this), the “100% grass-fed” claim is to say, “this product is from cows who roam on pasture and only eat grass – buy me.” AGN Roots Grass-Fed Whey sources from farms that are Animal Welfare Approved certified by A Greener World, which guarantees their “entire life on pasture,” thus we say “year-round.” Our cows always have access and a line of sight to food, water, bedding, pasture, and each other. There are no dairy farms in existence that limit their herd’s diet to ONLY pasture grasses (100%), as this would be wildly irresponsible and dangerous for the animals. During the cow’s life, there are specific nutrients provided to the animal to ensure their bodies are ready for critical stages of their lives like late gestation and or early lactation. During these critical stages, this silage is still grass from our farms; HOWEVER, instead of “dry” grass, this is “high-moisture” high-quality silage (cut Grass) packed for fermentation (to make dense the nutrients in the wet middle). Wet Silage allows the animal to receive the nutrients it needs without having to eat a ton in the case her appetite hasn’t reached the levels required by her lactating body to stay healthy and without strain and stress. I want to choose from the diversity available, so I want to know all about product. Is it pasteurized only once and what tempreature?How many minutes?

Hi, Thanks again for reaching out, really appreciate your passion for details. To answer your question our grass-fed milk is pasteurized a single time to a very high QA/QC standard. The pasteurization process you are referring to is common in UHTST pasteurization methods defined in our last correspondence. AGN Roots does not recommend milk being exposed to these very high temperatures, and certainly not for multiple passes. Generally, low temperature pasteurization more commonly known as Vat pasteurization requires very high QA/QC standards and takes more time, as we mentioned a minimum of 30 min at minimum lethality temperatures. When producing a high quality grass-fed whey protein, to ensure the preservation of all fragile nutrients, vat pasteurization of the milk is highly sought after and indicative of smaller batches! The cleanest, highest-quality whey I’ve found!

This is hands down the best whey protein I’ve ever tried. I love that it’s grass-fed, unflavored, and unsweetened — just pure, high-quality protein with nothing unnecessary added. Best Grass Fed Whey Isolate Out There

This is my favorite whey protein. Many cheaper brands I see are whey concentrate. The isolate has less lactose and more protein per gram. AGN Roots also seems to have a superior amount of actual grazing time for the cows and not just meeting the minimum to put it on the label. I would recommend mixing into coffee or smoothies. The flavor with just water isn't that great but is easily covered up by other flavors. One thing I learned with any type of whey and not just this one is DO NOT try to mix it with very hot water or it will denature and be impossible to mix, otherwise it dissolves quite easily. Well worth the price!

Clean ingredients, clean taste.

I love this product because of its simplicity and purity. Just two ingredients; whey protein and sunflower lecithin. No soy, no fillers, and the source of the dairy is grass fed cows which is important to me. I actually like the half scoop size because I usually do 1.5 scoops, so it's easier to customize the dose. People say it has no flavor and while I get what they mean, that's not quite my experience. There is definitely a flavor, but it is subtle and natural. It's ever so slightly sweet, and creamy. It kind of enhances the creaminess of the raw milk I mix it in and I actually really enjoy it. I tried another protein powder after my first bag of AGN Roots, but I quickly learned that Stevia and really any flavoring just isn't for me. So I think I'll be sticking with this for a while. The price is high, but that's because it's high quality; you get what you pay for. My only real complaint isn't about the protein but the packaging. Like many have said, it doesn't reseal very well. For that reason I transfer the powder to a gallon size airtight glass container (see picture attached.) One other thing is that I went to purchase another bag of this on Amazon but it said it would arrive 2-3 weeks out. So I instead went and ordered directly from their website and got it less than a week. Not sure what's up with that but hopefully they can work it out because ordering from Amazon is more convenient.

Careful when you order.

The product is wonderful — creamy and delicious. Just be careful when you order it. The default size is a whopping 48-ounce bag. Fine if you have a couple of people drinking protein shakes every day. But for me, a couple of shakes each week, it’ll take me forever to use this up. And it’s so bit, it’s a pain to store.

Pure and Smooth

You can honestly stir this with a spoon if you don't have a shaker. No clumps!I drank it straight with just milk. I bought a new Helix vortex shaker and it did foam a bit. I'll try again with less shaking to see if the foam reduces. No foam with stirring. They don't recommend a nutri /blade type mixer due to some sort of protein breakdown??? Need to research this more. Not using the blade mixer will require more steps to make a fruit type ice smoothie.I haven't tried mixing the frozen fruit/liquid blend to the powder inn the shaker yet. Very pleased with this no additive easy dissolving protein option. They have a self managed "club auto fill" option for future orders. The price for that option was considerably higher than ordering on Amazon. I am going to call and question the price. They also say that 6 months out of the year , they only sell to club members as to limited supplies. If the price is higher for the club guarantee shipment, Im going to take my chance and just use my Jay Robb egg white protein when the product is unable :)

Expensive but worth it

Ok, yes, the price isn't cheap but you do get what you pay for with this protein powder. Not all protein powders are the same. Even when it comes to whey, you've got: whey protein isolate vs concentrate, grass fed or not, unflavored vs artificial sweeteners or stevia, etc. The pros here are: clean ingredients, no fillers or sweeteners, responsibly produced product from humanely raised grass-fed cows, easily mixes, virtually no taste/flavor which makes it versatile (you can even bake or make protein pancakes with this stuff and mix it into savory soups and sauces), also it's easy for the body to digest and for the muscles to use. Only con I can think of is the tiny half serving scoop. But that's knit-picky. You just use 2 scoops full or swap it out for the typically-sized scoop (you know you have one somewhere, we all do). And the cost but, it kinda feels worth it to me. I've tried dozens of other protein powders and this is the only one I've ordered at least 5 times and plan to continue ordering. I've given up the search. This is the one for me. My mother has even started using it daily- she who has hated and therefore avoided protein powders as a rule all of her life. Plus, when you compare it to similar products, per ounce there isn't much difference in cost. I've seen others that cost more. Give it a try. If you have something to compare it to, you'll see this is a superior product.

Received earlier than expected. Just started consuming it. So far it’s good. Dissolves well in water and no bloating or discomfort. I am using a manual shaker as per their recommendation. No foul smell as it contains no other ingredients. Seems a good whey protein choice as it made from grass fed cow milk. Scoop was inside the packet that I didn’t notice during first week. Hope it will help me recover faster and build more muscles.

Love this protein powder, has no unnecessary ingredients, just whey. I usually order straight from AGN but with the postal strike I was relieved I could get it on Amazon.
