An almost perfect copy of the original!
I have to admit that I was more than a bit skeptical of buying this phone, especially given the price.I was expecting something that felt flimsy and was obviously a knock-off just meant to grab $$$ from people who are probably too young to notice the difference.I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG.The way the handset feels in my hand. The way the unit sounds when you pick the handset up. The way it sounds when you put it back in the cradle and hang up. The way the plunger on top feels if you push it with your finger. The look and feel of almost everything on this phone...THOSE THINGS HAVE BEEN DUPLICATED TO PERFECTION (with one exception for those who remember)! That thing that wasn't? It's the button for the number zero.On the original Western Electric models, the letters "OPER" were above the zero to indicate that this was the button to push to reach the Operator at the phone company.I get that that's no longer "a thing", but since they left all of the alphabetic characters above the other numbers, this really stands out as an error.I mean it's not like anyone really dials numbers like "BRentwood-43300" either, but they still included them on the buttons anyway, and I'm really happy that they did because it really adds to the look!Anyhow, aside from that one glaring error, this phone is perfect and I don't regret buying it in any way.I'm using this hooked up to a MagicJack, and I called my cellphone, left a voicemail and my voice was crystal clear.Likewise with the sound coming from the handset itself.I totally recommend this phone if you just want something simple with a vintage look, and where you only have to pick it up, dial the number, and away you go.They really did a good job on it.

Great Retro Phone
For those who are fond of black plastic Ray-Ban glasses and old cars, this is the phone for you. It doesn't have call forwarding or you won't have a clue who's calling you but what it does, it does well: You can hear the person with whom you are speaking and they can hear your voice with unrivaled clarity. The phone also has a cute bell ringer instead of those weird sounds that are emitted by modern day devices.I was so impressed with this phone that I purchased the wall model as well and I'm also satisfied with that. I replaced the wimpy cords that come with this phone with a 25' cord that can be purchased on Amazon for under $5. I also bought a $6 cord detangler just for the heluvit. It is worthy of note that the phone's handpiece is actually lighter than the older phones that this is modeled after. That's a good thing because it makes holding the phone much less fatiguing than in the good ol' days.So yes, I recommend this phone to anybody who is sick of that cheap corded phones that are being sold on the market these days. It is worthy of note that it makes good sense to hold onto your landline and avoid wireless models: These models are much more secure and they are much more reliable than their wireless counterparts.

The Ringer
I bought this for my sister for her birthday. It is a great phone no problem with the volume control, sound quality is great, & it was very easy for her to use. But after about 3 days the Ringer wouldn't ring. It would show on the caller ID on the TV who was calling but if she didn't look up or in another room you wouldn't know that anyone had called. But!! The phone is a great phone. The company issued a refund asap if I would return it.5 star's all the way!!

Nice Looking, Works Well (Mostly), Inexpensive.
Last week I bought two new phones for the house. Previously, we've had a couple cordless phones and they were handy in that you could walk around as you talked, but how often do you do that? With me, not often. Then there was the problem with needing new batteries in that they cost so much. Then there was the problem with the newer phones being basically ugly. Then there was the problem with people leaving messages whereas I'd much rather that they'd just call back later. Then there was always another on-going problem of misplacing the phone and not being able to find the handset while the phone was ringing. Very aggrevating! All in all, a switch back to a standard desk phone seemed in order. I chose a couple and one of them was the Cortelco Black Single Line Desk Telephone. It sits on my desk right here by my computer and looks very appropriate. This new Cortelco phone seems to work real well. The voice tone is excellent, much better than my other new phone. The push buttons work well and sound fine while being operated. About the only problem I've noted is that the volume switch on the ringer doesn't seem to work. It's always on low no matter what the switch position indicates. Well, I don't really need the high, but I'd like to have it when it rings and I'm in the another room. It seems nothing totally works these days. In any case, it's very nice looking, works well (except the bell thingy), and was inexpensive.Gary Peterson
