Be the Heroine, Find Your Hero
Girl Before a Mirror by Liza Palmer 5★♥ Read/ Reviewed on September 23, 2015.(The Short Synopsis: New York Ad executive, Anna Wyatt, thinks she’s found the best Ad campaign with the help of Romance books. Goes to Arizona for a Romance Books Convention. Anna meets a gorgeous mystery man. But Anna must deal with her Boss’s kids trying to take her campaign. And chaos with family. And just trying to be herself.)This book was “real” in a way that made me wish for that life. And even use the Moto, “Be the Heroine, Find Your Hero.”I really liked the main character, Anna Wyatt. And absolutely loved Lincoln Mallory!!!!! (Along with all the other Romance Book Cover Models at the Romance Convention in this story). The other characters were good too, even hated the villains as I should.Everything felt “real” in a way that didn’t make this a formulaic romance, in fact, the characters even made fun of those books, which I found funny.Anna is in Advertising, and as part of her pitch, she uses a Romance Books Convention… even though she felt really guilty at first in just reading a self-help book written by a Romance Novelist, called “Be the Heroine, Find Your Hero.” I bring that plot of the story up because I thought that was good and original.I felt that the ending stayed true to the story and didn’t feel rushed, like all other typical romance books. I really liked the ending. It was messy and unplanned. This is my second Liza Palmer book I’ve read and I really liked her humor in this book. Looking forward to reading others. And even rereading this book some time.

A survival story
This story takes a look at the world of advertising and how women are perceived. It has dysfunctional family relationships cut throat behaviors in the work place and romantic relationships. I enjoyed this entertaining story and the fascinating characters. It was a good read.

Great Gutsy Girl Novel
Great gutsy girl novel. Need to be encouraged to step out and take risks? This one meets the questions of growing up and older. How do I live life fully aware of myself and what makes me a better person. How do I find those who love and care for the me that IS! All in a book about a mature woman asking the tough questions and getting the job done!

Such promise, such a Miss
I love Liza Palmer"s writing and I've read all of her books and her last book, Nowhere but Home, was quirky funny, sad and inspiring all rolled into one. If you haven't read it, you're missing out. So maybe, I had too high of expectations for this book. The setting of taking place at the romance convention had promise but the execution was all over the map. The main character, Anna, was likable and we received the Palmer self dialogue that I know her fans have come to love but it was a miss for me. Lincoln Mallory, her love interest, was likable but he wasn't properly fleshed out. We learn a few paragraphs about him and then nothing. Why was he living in NYC? He was from a described posh family but we learned nothing of why he left England or his background other than he had a brother. We did learn about some random guru, her alcoholic brother, her troubled friend, her bitchy boss and others but it was just too much. It didn't hang together well at all. Anna's protege Sascha was the only highlight for me of secondary characters. In summary, I felt cheated by this book. I wanted to see more of a relationship between Lincoln and Anna. I hope Mis Palmer delivers this in her next book. Girl Before a Mirror was not up to her usual stellar standard. I will buy her next book as Ive loved all her others so much.

Did not disappoint
I read this like an addict getting a fix. Palmer is spot-on (again) depicting the struggles to Just Be female. Her candor and insight reel you in and have you rooting for her characters to overcome foibles and roadblocks to enjoy happiness and success. Good stuff, darn good stuff.

If you aren't reading Liza, you're missing out
I adore everything written by Liza Palmer. Her quirky odd humour makes me laugh and leaves me unprepared for when her books punch me in the heart. She's on my auto-buy list and I'm never disappointed.
