MISSING INSERTS :(
The description did NOT state that all of the postcards, photos, and notes were taken out of the book save but 1. These are part of what makes this book unique and probably make this book reading experience fun and one of a kind. Without them this is a incomplete book. Now we have to buy the book again to get these. Probably will even look into returning this, it’s similar to buying a book and some of the pages have been ripped out. Don’t even sell this book if it’s incomplete!

Captivating read, other reviewers missing the point?
I am unsure why this novel has accumulated so many negative reviews. I began listening to the audiobook merely to make the process of digesting the entirety of S. a little easier, but soon forgot about S. and became hooked on Ship of Theseus in its own right. I listened to it in the car to and from work and found myself bummed out when I would reach my destination.I thought the narrator was a very good fit tonally for this book. As another reviewer pointed out the novel is intentionally bleak to match the time period in which it is supposed to have been written. I thought the devices used and the storytelling were quite excellent, and with every chapter I kept feeling hooked into the plot and the character of S.Another reviewer complained that they were not given the time period until half way through the story, which is more or less true. To me, I appreciate that the author credited me for having a brain and made me think about the story in abstract terms, and furthermore, put me as the reader in the shoes of S., the main character, whose lens we view the novel through. For half of the book he is lost and uncertain of who he is, where he came from, where he's going, why he is there, and to be able to experience that confusion with him is pretty unique and exciting.Considering that this novel was written as part of a larger platform it is done remarkably well. The characters are interesting, the plot is intriguing, and the writing kept me on my toes and asking questions; all qualities of a good book... And the cherry on top is that there's a whole separate story woven into the margins once you're done with Ship of Theseus.

Perfect - but it depends what you're expecting.
Obviously, as every other reviewer has mentioned, this audio version of 'Ship of Theseus' by V.M. Straka is only one piece of the novel S. It doesn't include any of the footnotes from "F.X. Caldeira" or any of the extensive margin notes or the many additional items that are tucked into the pages of the hardback novel. So in that sense, it's severely lacking. But I'm just starting S., and to get the full effect of the story, I decided to read just the text of 'Ship of Theseus' before diving into any of the other material. And for that, this audio version is even better than the hardback! It's difficult not to be distracted by the margin notes when reading the novel.Graeme Malcolm is an excellent narrator, and this audio version is getting me up to speed on the material on which S. is anchored, so when I finish it, I can dive into the hardback novel with a layer of knowledge.
