Grizzly IndustrialT10438 - Carbide Insert CCMT Boring Bar Set, 3-Pc.

Boring some 6160 aluminum, I was starting with the smallest intending to open the hole up to the point I could use the medium size bar. I had about 65mm of stickout which is a bit much. The skinny bar was bending with even jist a little pressure. I felt I could bend it with my fingers. Consistently with the medium size bar, I have to go over the bore twice because even with moderate stickout, the bar is bending away from the aluminum. You really notice when you return from a bore, the cutter cuts a decent amount more when it's pulled out of the hole. I've tried a variety of DOCs.The bars work. When you choke up on them, say 20 mm stickout, the medium one works properly and I don't have to re-run. I was just hoping for more I guess. I don't regret buying them but it's taken me awhile to figure out why boring isn't as consistent as I want. I'm probably going to buy a heavier duty set from Borite. They have them here on Amazon.

They are stiff enough when used at moderate depths. provided inserts have worked well in mild steel and some 4130.

Did what it was designed for with no issues.

Good boring set seems to do the jobs I have for it great.

These boring bars have come in handy several times on my 11"x36" metal lathe. The quality seems very good, and I am very satisfied with the purchace.

This is a very nice set for the money. I would highly recommend the manufacture making the same set but half the length for boring heads.

It did what it is meant to do!It has enough flat surfaces that it can be clamped in place with the basic tool holder

These are awesome for bench too/hobby lathes - the long bar is long enough to have to remove a tail-stock from a HF 7x10 lathe - but these work great for boring operations
