Do you need to remove your fob from your keychain to put it in this protector?

More than likely, yes. I have a flat house key attached to my fob via O-ring and then attached that to the O-ring provided inside the protector. It is a bit snug. There is a clasp provided outside the protector to which you might attach your key chain. The pouch does keep my fob from connecting with the car.

If I have my key in the pouch and I’m in the car can I still start my car?

That would defeat the purpose of having the key fob in the pouch. If the pouch works properly no signal is picked up by the car if it is in the pouch meaning nobody can scan and duplicate your signal and steal your car. You have to take the key fob out of the pouch in order to send a signal out
