Was looking for an easy way to split signal from the optical off the smart tv. This worked! All connections are live with one input. Headphone, optical, analog, and coaxial outputs, all active with one input (optical or coaxial or hdmi). You will see a splitting signal drop of about -3db with each additional connection, but hey, it works. Simple fix. The red LED on the input side of the box is a bit bright. Overall a well built product. I’d buy it again.

I have a VERY old analog Yamaha RX497 receiver and a brand new Samsung QLED TV. The new TV does not have any analog ports. I had to find a converter that worked to convert analog to HDMI ARC as I wanted to hook up my stereo speakers for sound (the new TV has terrible sound). This one works for me! Very fast and easy to set up. If using HDMI ARC remember to set the switch to "A" as it indicates in the description. This was NOT the first converter I tried-it was rather frustrating to find one that works. Hopefully this review can help others-I called Samsung and all they wanted to do is sell me a soundbar--this option saved me a lot of money!! Yeah!!

Helps out that there is something to convert your sound on a newer tv to a 5 year old sound bar. Fairly easy to hook up, turns right on. Standard 110v hook up. Only issue was having to go back to Amazon page for the A-T-C button. Pictures there if you input is either 3 but not in the instruction booklet. That would help a little more. Other than that, great piece and everything works.

This converter is really nice. It's housed in a sturdy, solid metal box, it sounds good, and the connections I needed to use worked well for my needs. For my specific setup, I flipped the switch to T (for Toslink) and plugged into the optical in from my TV to pass a signal to my existing optical soundbar and sub, then I added on an RCA to mono cable to get the signal to my older style ButtKicker I was given. My situation is very specific, but you can apply this idea to virtually any setup that needs a simultaneous combination of RCA, optical, coax and/or 3.5mm. The sound quality seems to be just as clear as it was before I added this on - I'm not audiophile but I have a nice Klipsch soundbar and sub, and I haven't noticed any difference in quality. The volume did drop a small amount, and I imagine the signal gets weaker with the more devices you plug into it. But in my case, with only two outputs plugged in, it wasn't significant enough of a drop to ding it. My only complaint is that the red LED is pretty bright for a dark room, but if it's hidden with the rest of your cables it isn't noticeable. Overall, this is a great, cheap converter if you have a specific use-case that requires you to take a single audio input and convert it into multiple different outputs. It's built well, it's cheap, and it seems to get coupon deals pretty frequently. Highly recommend!

Ok. I need to tamp the headline a bit. I'm only interested in 2ch audio and I've just powered the thing up. I'm going to give it 50 hrs. or so to 'break-in and warmup' and review this again after that. In my experience most DAC circuits prefer a 24hr warmup and like to be powered on continuously. It was simple to hook up. just unplugged the S/PDIF Coax connector from my current DAC to this new DAC, jacked in with my headphones and started playback from my music server. At first I noticed a pretty firm bias toward high frequencies making this tiring even after a few moments. I also noticed that the bass was kind of indistinct which was surprising considering the amount of detail present. What I did notice, finally, was that on more somewhat complicated rhythms. The music was so confused, I just stopped right there and decided to allow some warmup and break-in to happen. I'll be back once that happens.

Bought it at the beginning of the year, it sat in its package in our living room cabinet waiting for me to redo some wiring, etc. to install it. Well, I hooked it up a few minutes ago. TOSLINK in and out, power, and RCA stereo cables to my Nakamichi CA-5 preamp. The TOSLINK pass through works just fine. Analog audio out is nothing more than a horrible static, no bit of the audio whatsoever. Typical garbage from a hole in the wall factory in a country known for blatant incompetence in manufacturing. Thought I would give it a try, as Samsung doesn’t think standard analog audio outputs should still be on a television. Don’t bother unless you can do a quick test for operability right after it arrives.

Imagine my surprise when upgrading to a new QLED TV from Samsung and learning that the previous female audio jack for my Sennheiser wireless listening device was nowhere to be found. Easy fix: first buy this puppy and an optical (TOSLINK) cord. Attach one end to the female receptacle on the back of the TV and the other to the TOSLINK on the input side of the converter. Position the converter's input switch to the center position (T). Insert the audio jack into the headphone icon on the output side. Plug the converter in and on the TV navigate to Settings=>Sound=>Optical=>Advanced Settings. You must select LPCM PCM format for this to work. I also have a Samsung Soundbar with an optical input. I plugged it into the converter's TOSLINK jack on the output side and it works just fine.

Excellent product with great audio quality! Here's a piece of advice, these converters will not work with your TV on DOLBY setting it will only work with PCM!
