Great price, no problems!
I see a lot of bad reviews of these discs (most of the bad ones show up on the first page), however, it also looks like most of those bad reviews are from 2011 and prior. Maybe Memorex was making the discs differently back then, but I have not had any issues with these.I like burning DVDs for my wife of all of our home movies, as well as pictures from our phones, and I used to use only 4GB discs, even though they worked great, there just wasn't enough space to put more than a handful of events on a disc so I went looking for an alternative. I found these discs at BestBuy for almost $50...and honestly that's ridiculous! I actually used Google Goggles to scan the barcode, and the first thing that happened is they popped up at more than half off, and free shipping via prime.Needless to say, I purchased them from Amazon, and have not looked back. I've not not errors writing to these discs (using a Mac).I would highly recommend them, especially if you're looking at burning movies to DVD for your family.

The do the job for recording
Memorex is a well-established brand in Recording Media. The discs in my order have performed just fine for my needs (IOW, I haven't had any problems).I ** DO INDEED ** recommend this product.

For the price and convenience, well worth it
My experience has been that when you're buying Dual Layer blank DVDs, in brick and mortar stores you always pay a premium and you almost never have options on what to get, which is really a pain. Fortunately, the price on these is tolerable, and in my experience the quality is about where they should be. First thing is why to get these over single layer? Most people really don't need dual layer DVDs unless you have large files or longer videos you want to put onto a single DVD rather than breaking it up. In my case I had a home video that was fairly long and I was faced with either using a lower quality to fit onto a single layer, or splurge to get a dual layer disc that could fit it. The burn process is just like a normal DVD burn, except for a little longer, and the end result looks like a normal single layer burned DVD. I can't speak to the long term quality on these discs, but in past experience with Memorex blank media I haven't had any problems with them lasting for a few years. Previously I've made the mistake with going with generic branded blank media and had problems with it a year or two after burning. Overall, happy enough with these, and think you will be too.Pros:Well known brand with reputation of good qualityWorks well for burning larger files/videosCons:Price is a little high compared to single layer media

3 bad disks in the package
Some of these discs would not work when I tried to use them to backup data files, after I ran out of regular single-layer DVDs. So these Memorex 8.5 GBs work fine for making copies of DVDs but do not work 100% reliably as data backup discs using a PC with the Windows 7 operating system installed. When I put some of these blank discs into my computer DVD player, I received a message on the screen telling me the drive needed to be formatted before I could use it, but the other ones worked just fine.Total results: 3 "bad disks" that were completely unusable, out of a package of 25.Updated to note: Within three weeks of my purchase, the new price is double what I paid, making this no longer a good deal.

Great Discs - Know what You're Ordering Though
I noticed alot of mixed reviews on these discs so i figured id add my own $.02.I Have a HP 22x dvd1170 dvd+R DL drive (best buy got em for like $60) and the few discs i tried came out 100% fine and were readable in every dvd drive i put them in. Ive noticed alot of people are saying they dont work for them. Im sure the issue isnt that 50% of the discs out there are bunk, but its a compatibility issue. I cant speak for everyone, but from what i tried, these Discs will work fine in most newer dvd DL drives. Im sure theres a website out there that will show compatibility. As far as im concerned, best disc for the price.

Excellent Product
Initially I was not sure about ordering this blank disc set. For some reason there were always a good number of negative reviews for almost all dual layer disc sets available at Amazon. Ultimately price was the deciding factor and so I decided to go with Memorex. The very first disc I tried to burn got damaged after about 95% of the process. I was worried whether all the negative reviews were true. But from then I decreased the burning speed from 8X to 4X (though the disc says 8X) and now things couldn't be more perfect. Sure it takes 25 minutes to burn 8GB at 4X. But still no more burning errors so far and I burn these dual layer discs only once in a while so time consumed is not really an issue. For the price, this is an unbelievable deal.

EVERYONE HAVING ISSUES PLEASE READ
I have a very big feeling that it's more a software issue than anything. The first disc I attempted to burn, I used Nero (which is very popular and I'm sure many of you use) and the disc failed at slow speed. After that I switched to a very simple free program called ImgBurn (google it) and haven't had an issue since, even on MAX speed. This can't be a coincidence to me. Still though...you should be able to use whatever software you want, and that's where "You get what you pay for" comes into play. These DO work though, just a bit of a hassle. Remember, try ImgBurn...it's free and it has worked every time for me so far.

Almost no failures, highly recommend
We author over 15 DVDs a month that eventually are sent off to a replicator to make 1000+ copies. Before we send off our master, we need to proof the content for any issues. We will burn the proof copy to this dual layer media and watch it in our DVD players. Some older DVD players do have trouble reading from a burned dual layer disc and will get stuck during the layer break, however, we've only had a handful of failure in the thousands of discs we've burned over the last few years. I've switch to buying the 50 pack because you can save a little bit more per disc and we use so many of them.I would recommend these any anyone who need to burn a disc for data backup or DVD authoring. Just be sure you test out one in your DVD player before you make too many in case your DVD player is too old to handle the layer break.
