Smokehouse 100-Percent Natural Chicken Chips Dog Treats, 8-Ounce

My little dogs would give these five stars based on taste. They are the treats the three dogs get most often - after walks, for taking meds, etc. These are about 1" in diameter and very easy to break. I rated these a four because they tend to crumble when you break them. I prefer the Pet 'n Shape version of these because they break more cleanly. The Pet 'n Shape biscuits are thicker, but some can be impossible to break with my hand - which is why I prefer these. Based on appearance, these look more appetizing - they have visible seasonings and appear to be baked chicken biscuits while the Pet 'n Shape brand has a very uniform plain, bland, disc appearance. Without a doubt, these win in the appearance category. Sorry, I can't personally report on taste, but the tail-waggers wolf both brands down without hesitation. Even though neither brand lasts long, the Pet 'n Shape seem a little chewier and last about 10 seconds longer. (I wonder if the Prime Chips by Smokehouse are exactly like the Pen 'n Shape brand. However, we have never purchased that version.)These are "LAB TESTED IN THE USA" so they are obviously not made in our country. We have never had a problem with them - the quality has been consistently high. If that changes, I would instantly send the package back and immediately revise this review. My furmates are extremely important to me, and I am more careful about the things I give them than what I consume. (Sad, but true!) I have never hesitated to give these to my kibble consumers - and they certainly have never hesitated to gobble them up. Low fat, high protein means these are perfect training rewards when broken into tiny pieces. I don't foresee these dropping out of the treat rotation anytime soon.

My mistake, I should have looked at size before ordering. At that price I thought I was getting a larger bag than I get in store. Turns out it's only 8 oz. bag which I get at my local grocery store for half this price. then to top it off I can't return it for a refund.

My dog loved these and they were easy to carry on walks. I had previously ordered this size of these often. Then last winter I ordered a larger bag and it arrived with wheat flour and salt added. I returned it as I thought it was just a different product in the large bag. To my dismay this order from December 2012 also had the flour and salt.The bag is still sitting in my dog treats drawer as members of our family are sensitive to gluten and I’m not sure if this won’t cause cross contamination between handling it and the dog eating them. Also think my dog is gluten sensitive as she occasionally comes down with sudden congestion/ allergy symptoms with no apparent reason( but possibly that someone in the family is sharing some wheat containing cookies crackers or cereal with her.) Her dog foods are wheat & gluten free.Let me know if they become gluten free again!

My daughter told me that her family Yorkie loves these treats and she is having a difficult time finding them in stores. I bought them here, put a couple out when they were visiting, and could not believe how fast that little dog ran off with them! Usually I put out a snack or two and he sniffs and runs away. Saves them for later after he determines that he is getting nothing else. But my daughter is right. He loves these so much that I found him sitting by the closet door where I keep his snacks, waiting for more. I bought a one pound tub for my daughter to take home and told her to get them here on Amazon.

Made in China but when I ordered the description said made in USA. There is a larger bag which I also bought that was produced in the USA. I won’t buy food from China, for myself or my dogs.

I bought a bag of these because my local pet food store was out of the Chicken Nibbles we usually get. The description on Amazon says "100% chicken" but the package lists ingredients as "chicken, wheat flour, salt". One dog can handle the wheat and salt, so she'll get all of these. I hope my local store gets the Chicken Nibbles back soon, so my other pets can get a treat they love.
