Review: An Amazing Book! - I have the Black & Decker Complete Guide to Home Wiring but it was published in 2002. I saw the new third edition was published in 2005. I like the Black & Decker Complete Guide Books because they have amazing illustrations. They educate you just enough for you to realize that you need a much better book. I wanted an extremely comprehensive book that included the new 2008 national electrical code. My search led me to this book. This is a text book. A different reviewer wrote that this was not a reference book. I disagree. The purpose of a text book is to thoroughly educate a novice on a specific topic. This book is extremely informative. I purchased the paperback edition. This book is well worth the money. This is the book that you want to buy. Your search is over. Review: worth the money - This product is very helpful since it was the text that I had to by for my wiring class. Although it lacks some illustrations to show better detail on certain things overall I would have to say it describes the wiring process well, while also stating code regulations to prove the instalation is correct. The book really breaks down even the simplest wiring scamatic so that the do-it-yourself individual, like me, can take their time read and understand. I would tell a friend to try this book.

Well done.
There is the right balance between wording and illustrative examples. The information is clear and concise, and the codes are cited then translated into plain English. I was using this to familiarize myself with codes for Home Inspection and it was right on the money. I learned a ton of useful safety information and if I ever need to wire something up myself, I have a great reference with specific examples. Book even touches into adjacent codes such as building and fire safety to round the information out.

Residential Electrical Wiring
As a NON-electrician, this book proved to be an asset during my home's construction. Using Residential Electrical Wiring as a guide, I was able to completely wire my entire home and have it pass inspection. The room by room text was easy to follow and understand. I would recommend this book to anyone trying to remodel an existing home or planning to wire a new construction, as I have.

Residential wiring book
This book has most all information that you need to have a good understanding of most practices of residential wiring, it has useful NEC code book references so if you really want to be able to wire most things i would suggest buying the NEC code book also so your doing things to code.

Pictures are worth a thousand words
I purchased this book when I was an electrical apprentice. I was easier to understand than our text book. In our second year of school this was one of our text books. Easy enough for a layperson to understand too.
