Works great, flexibility based on how you install it
The black color blends in well and it looks nice in the tank. It's simple and easy to install, but there are many options for how you want to use it, so it may take some experimenting to get it just right. It can be installed above the surface (more surface agitation but more noise) or below the surface (less noise, less agitation). It can point in any direction (you probably don't want it straight up though lol).I have a 75G being overfiltered with a Fluval FX6. The standard outflow was way too much flow, which is why I bought this. First tried it above the surface...too noisy for me. Then tried it below the surface pointing slightly up and to the front of the tank. The surface agitation and noise was great, but still too much flow for my setup. Finally tried it with the flow pointing to the back glass of the tank and slightly up. Perfect! Still have some surface agitation but the flow in the tank is much calmer and my fish love it. They will even go to the back and play in the flow when they want but overall the tank is very calm.Bottom line...if you are looking to spread out and reduce the power of the output flow, this offers different options and you should be able to find just what you are looking for.

It’s a top notch aftermarket item that’s well worth the investment.
Hell Yeah! Finally... They’re bk n stock! I purchased a FX4 n April of 2020 @ which time the pandemic wz full on... I wanted the flow tamer spray bar & it was a “no go” due to the supply chain shut down.Jump FW to Jan 2021 & they’re back n stock! It fits snuff & tight up under the rim of the aquarium. They even hv a “new intake” which IMO looks a hell of a lot better then that “gawd awful” OEM strainer. I use a pre-filter sponge, so the OEM strainer hv never installed the OEM strainer b/c a prefilter sponge over that wld take up way too much real-estate The flow tamer intake & prefilter version is sleek & came w/ 2 sponges.Previously I used the aquarium co-op prefilter sponges. I initially used the large version but it needed to b zip-tied to stay on & looked like hammered dawg crap due to the zip-tie needing to b so darn tight. I also had their (aquarium co-op’s) medium prefilter sponges while that is a helleva tight fit & there r no worries about falling off. However the 2 & sumtimes 3 times a week that I wld need to rotate thru the medium sized prefilter sponges on the fx4 got to b a real pita! The flow tamer’s version is a larger medium size sponge & their intake strainer is sleek & installs under the sponge. So there’s no more turning off the filter when swap sponges. Just slide it off & Nstall the 2nd sponge & done. WINNNING!!!

Outstanding!
Only thing better than the quality of this product is the customer service. Extremely well built and designed, easy to setup and has tamed my Fluval Fx6 down by dispersing the output across the entire 75 gallon tank. I contacted the seller and had a few questions. Primarily, will this product cause any issues with the output and put additional strain on the motor, (head pressure). I received back one of the most comprehensive emails from the owner and designer who not only shared with me how he has used this product in his own tanks but how he had contacted Fluval engineers repeatedly and verified the product with them to make sure it was correct. If anyone else is wondering, here is what I was told: My spray bar is a 42 inch and uses three pieces with a Fluval Fx6 canister. Just two of the sections of pipe are equal to the output of the standard duck bill output that comes with the canister. Adding a third section of pipe actually reduces the head pressure even more by providing more coverage throughout the tank. I couldn't be more happy with the product. The Fx6 is a great canister but I probably should have stepped down one model for this size tank because of the massive output. The spray tamer has eliminated all issues and now I can run a larger canister without having the high flow output issues.

Outstanding quality and utility.
A very well-thought-out and executed alternative to the Fluval brand spray bar and intake. I'm very impressed with the quality and utility of this product and consider it a valuable upgrade for my FX6.The dual sponge intakes are very effective and simple to service with the provided mesh bag. The ability to tilt these to suit your aquarium is splendid. Simple things like not having clashing light grey connectors, as Fluval does, is satisfying in itself. The clips which can replace suction cups work very well. The advice given in the instructions to reduce current/flow in the return by pointing the output backward and up is simple yet effective.I look forward to these being a standard addition to future aquaria. Having high-quality components that I can depend on is important to me. This gear is top rate.

It works great!
It controls and maintain the flow from an "overpowered" filter - one that is too big for a particular tank. Great for slower moving fish and planted tanks that don't want the fast flow that you'd get from overfiltering. The flow tamer is used on a 75 gallon with an FX4. The has 8 angelfish and loads of plants. I have the spray bar positioned on the back of the tank, about an inch and a half under the rim of the tank tilted about 30 degrees upward. It keeps the plants gently swaying and the waste at the front of the moving toward the filter intake. The angels aren't battered around. The food sits fine at the top too. It's really nice.
