Mistral Men's Cologne, Bourbon Vanilla, Made in France, 3.4 Oz

My collection of men's colognes has well over 150 fragrances, including offerings from houses like Parfums de Marly, Creed, Amouage, and Penhaligon's. Sadly, the more scents you get your nose on, the easier it is to slip down the path toward scent snobbery and eschew designer fragrances for higher-quality (and higher-priced) niche fare. Most of the designer fragrances found at retailers like Macy's hold little to no appeal for me anymore. Mistral's Bourbon Vanilla is a nice exception, offering a high-quality fragrance at an affordable price. I'm happy I discovered it and was able to add it to my collection.According to their website, these are the scent notes:Top: Vanilla, cumin, orange blossomMiddle: Almond, ambrox, cedarwoodBase: Musks, patchouli, sandalwoodIn a nutshell, this fragrance pretty much smells like its name, although the bourbon and vanilla notes may not be as pronounced as you might expect. There's a creamy smoothness and sort of an understated elegance to this. It's a fairly straight-forward fragrance that does not change at all from when you spray it on through the dry-down. Sillage is good, and longevity is about four to five hours before it becomes more of a skin scent.If you want to sample this fragrance for less money than a full bottle, you can purchase their body wash of the same name. It has the exact same scent as their cologne.

The smell is so amazing that I gave it to myself! I realize this is a man’s scent, but it can easily serve as a Uni-gender scent so that is what I am doing! I smell fabulous! Every time I wear it, I get tons of compliments, and everyone wants to know what it is and where I bought it. Sincerely, one of the best fragrances I’ve ever smelled in my whole life.

I’ve used this for a couple years now. My last order was a few weeks ago, and this is not the standard I grew accustomed to. The color was slightly off right out of the package, but sometimes that’s not a problem. The smell is also off. It’s lacking the almost creamy aspect of it, and has an overpowering smell of alcohol when spraying. This scent would last all day, weakening at the perfect rate, so as not to overpower, and it was great. I’m not sure if the formula has been cheaped down, or just a bad batch, but I’m very disappointed.So, scent is off, longevity is gone, hopefully this will be a case of bad batch.

I get compliments every time I wear this cologne out!

This is the first cologne I've worn, but I have had some samples to compare to since. I have zero regrets about this purchase. It is not offensively strong but has the longevity and potency balance I had hoped for. I went in blind and could not be more pleased with the scent. This is my daily driver now.

I purchased this cologne several years ago, and had a difficult time reordering it. While Amazon still listed it, it was through a third party and double the original price. Now it is back, only slightly higher and I recommend ordering it before it disappears again.This sent is cool and sweet like vanilla, with strong undertones of bourbon, giving it a masculine, unique fragrance, garnering a multitude of complements. A few shots in the morning will last all day. A refresher will carry you through your evening on the town.
