Isle Royale National Park Map (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map, 240)

Nice map of the park! It's been great for planning our upcoming trip this summer. I'll be using it on the trail as well. If I get lost on the island, I'll come back and revise my review! lol

Bought this for a trip that I will be taking to the NP this spring. Great quality, I just wish it showed more of the trails on the island.

The map is very well made and feels like it will last(if you take care of it and store it properly). However, the map was packaged awfully and was bent in places it wasn’t supposed to be when I got it. This is preventing it from folding and unfolding correctly. This same issue is also preventing it from laying flat when both folded and unfolded. Quality map, just don’t buy it through Amazon.

This is a map of Isle Royale. It has the features that one might expect from a map of Isle Royale. The Western and Eastern side of the island are split between the front and back side of the map, which isn't super ideal, but it allows for some details that wouldn't be visible if it were all squeezed onto one side.I have bought two of these and taken them across the island, and both weathered the trip well (no tears or stains).The distance indications seem pretty accurate, though I didn't have an odometer to test them.Overall, it's a map. Would recommend.

This map is excellent for use on Isle Royale and is reasonably up to date (there was a fire on the island in recent years that wiped out a section fo trail on Minong). The waterproofing held up very well in rain but the map was not stiff in the cold. The map takes both sharpie and ballpoint writing well and holds the ink.The terrain features are accurate in all the areas I visited in 2014. It's a BIG map but I like that because it allows a high degree of fidelity, especially handy when you decide to (or are forced) off trail. The map cuts very well, if you want to trim it down to size for your specific trip . I don't hike on water so if I'm staying on one end of the island I'll cut off all the water around the island till the map is as small as possible (with room for navigation errors).The one improvement I wish they'd make is adding a trail distance chart like they have with the water distance chart to make on the fly planning easier.This is a great map for traveling to a great segment of isolated wilderness.

I like that it has the whole island on it. Don't want to get lost.

This map lead my boyfriend and I around Isle Royale without fail. The material is slightly waterproof, which was nice on the trail. I would still recommend putting in a waterproof bag.Folding the map up was a hassle. The contents on the map were very accurate and we were pleased with this purchase. This is a must have if you're going to Isle Royale!
