BRILLIANT BEGINNING TO A CRIME SAGA
Sins of The Father, the first novel in the Consentino Crime Saga, is a brilliant portrayal of the Consentino family. When Alonzo Consentino leaves the crime and violence of life in Sicily for the Promised Land, little does he know that his children will be sucked back in the Mafia life he left behind. This novel has it all: crime, corruption, passion, loyalty, all within a sinister fraternity. By the end of this book, I was fully engaged in the happenings of the Consentino’s and can’t wait to read the next novel in this well-written page-turner.

Superb!
What a thrilling and awesome book to read. It had me hooked from the very beginning, although it has left me wondering who really murdered Alonzo.

His best work yet!!!!
I have read each of Mr. Davis' books and admit to being intrigued by this one before I even opened it, since his first four all take place and are focused on ancient Rome. I have thoroughly enjoyed each of his first books, but Sins of the Father is different. It is different because of this: while the Sertorious and Marius books are great reads, your subconscious will hint that maybe Mr. Davis is hiding something from us, which surfaces in Sins. I refer to his writing style really coming out! This is not to speak poorly of his first books, rather illustrate just how much stronger this one is. Hooked from the start, the attention to detail to help the reader know the setting without difficulty (the fonts used: block for the hearing, italic for the past, etc.). This is by far Vincent Davis' best work, as far as I am concerned, and that says a lot because I absolutely love his earlier writings, and his books have certainly earned their own section on my bookshelf. As always, the only part of this book that I do not like, is the fact that I finished it and must wait for the next installment.... but that's really all a part of the fun, now isn't it?I've said this on all of my reviews for Davis books: this writer is going places; but this time, I need to change it up: This writer has exploded onto the scene of truly talented writers that make you wonder how they became so gifted and when you can get their next book. Before too long, Vincent Davis will be a household name for all readers.... at least the ones with good taste.Bravo to you, yet again, Vincent, and thank you for continuing to share your gift with us readers!

Engaging
How a 'made man' was made. Well written and plotted, but the author+ could use a lesson in the geography of New York

Beginnings of the mob
A little slow at first but then I didn't want to stop reading!! There is a lot of back & forth: past present, etc. Story is told from multiple viewpoints. Story does end with a small cliffhanger.

Good story
I guess it’s as good a place as any to stop but it really didn’t have a conclusion for Sonny or a cliff like stop.

Compelling
This story is just mind blowing. So realistic and eye opening for the time period. I was never really interested in this period, but after all the books about Rome, I figured this would be a solid series too. It didn't disappoint! Sequel please....
