Great First Words
My daughter is speech delayed and this cards helped alot when she first started seeing a speech therapist. Apple was the first word she repeated and remember.

These cards totally work!
I used these cards for both of my kids at home. With practice and patience, at ages 3 and 4 they were already reading. By the time they started kindergarten, they were both reading books beyond their grade-level. They are amazing! 👍🏼👍🏼

Fun but not helpful for teaching actual reading
These cards are well made, sturdy material, bright colors, easy to read. The words are all nouns that have easy to recognize pictures on them. This means that most of the time your preschooler will just be saying what is in the picture and actually reading the word on the card. This can help a very young one understand that words are associated with things and ideas in the real world. The first two skills your student will need to learn to read is the ability to identify letters visually. In other words they can look at the letter A and know that it is an A. The second skill will be to learn that letters "make" sounds. For instance when they see the letter B, they should know that it makes the /b/ sound (most of the time).Out of the box, this set of cards is not designed to teach either of those skills.Get a pack of index cards, write one letter on each card. Teach your toddler the name of the letter and some of the sounds that it can make, use those cards to "build" words that they can sound out (such as cat or hop). Practice that for 10-15 minutes a day a few times a week through ages 3 and 4 and they will go into Kindergarten looking like baby Einstein. No need to spend $12 bucks.

Great!
Great Flashcards for first words. Bought these for my daughter who was at the time 16 months old. They have really helped us to increase her word count! The pictures are easy to recognize without confusion. Some older reviews have criticized the fact that the picture of the phone is outdated. I just want to clarify that that has been corrected and the picture now shows a smart phone that is very easily recognized by a small kid that constantly wants to have her mothers phone! Our cards are quite beaten up now, due to bending, chewing, and tearing. But I still love them and would probably buy another set to switch out the cards that are almost destroyed. I don’t mind that because there very “affordable “ and that’s what I wanted!

Great Cards, better then Playskool brand
I bought this for my 15 mo old daughter. They say at this age an younger they can learn up to 5 words a day and since its winter were at the house a lot. So this was a great way to introduce new words and pictures of things ahe has not seen before (trying to avoid TV). She loves them! I pull them out when shes eating in the high chair, a great distraction if your child is fussy at the table btw. Now at 18 months she asks for them by saying 'card' and pointing to where i keep them. I absolutely recommend these and this brand. I like them better then the playskool ones. These are thicker cards and have the word also on the back so you know what card your showing without looking at the front. The playskool ones all have the same picture on the back and where you hold the card in your hand can sometimes cover up the word and the cards are a lot thinner.
