Unfortunately it does not have auto shut off.

Is the carafe easy to remove and replace? the last coffee pot I had ended up breaking because I had to fight to get the pot in and out.

The one thing about the coffee pot is we just broke our 2nd carafe! It is very breakable. Cannot find where to just buy a carafe. You have to buy the entire coffee pot.

What can I get the permanent filter basket for this?

There is not a permanent filter basket with this coffee maker. You will have to purchase SM coffee filters.

I have a new machine but it takes ages to brew just one cup of coffee.. At least 25 mins. Do you know why this would happen?
