Reading & Math Jumbo Workbook: Grade K Paperback – July 1, 2005

This book was a wonderful next step from this publisher's prek book. On alphabet pages it has several different skills for each letter. For instance, practicing writing upper and case, writing word that starts with the letter, drawing a picture of something that starts with the letter, then finally coloring items associated with the letter. It provides a lot of handwriting skills as well as phonics recognition. My son's favorite page is the counting. Counting pages are includes cutting and pasting to go with the number. It covers everything we need and is easy to go thru with him.

This is a large workbook, which is a plus. However, I am a bit disappointed with the content. First of all, a lot of the activity pages have too many directions. I didn’t find that to be super user friendly for a kindergarten student. Then, randomly, some pages have writing lines with no directions. The picture quality isn’t what I have come to expect from Scholastic products, which was disappointing. I ordered this for my 3.5 year old daughter who has been working through many pre-k and kindergarten workbooks at home & while some activities are engaging, a lot are redundant. If you’re looking for quantity this is a good book because it’s longer but as a parent, educator, and literacy specialist with experience in curriculum, this is not the ideal way to present the content.

The best overall kindergarten book I have ever purchased. It has topics that I never thought of that are very important. It is also somewhat advanced in some areas but that is a good thing.

With 320 full-color pages, Reading & Math Jumbo Workbook: Grade K provides additional activities on alphabet, sight words, handwriting, phonics, numbers, shapes, and other topics necessary for kindergarten-level reading and math. Although some of the pages were a bit challenging, I like the variety offered by the workbook. The different sections provided many exercises that I had not seen in any other kindergarten reading or math workbook. I also appreciated the sections on test taking because my daughter needs to learn the skill for the future.

My baby is 4 and I felt like I wasn’t stimulating her mind enough so I decided to get some kindergarten books so she can be ahead when she starts school. These are awesome, she loves them!

Great activity book. I purchased for my 4 yo & he has been so pleased with it. He works on it nearly ever my day.

It’s a great book but really wished it had actual math in it.

This book has been loved by my daughter who is five. I was using another book that was really focused for 1rst graders and thought it was good for my soon to be kindergartener. However when I received this book, it replaced the love for the other one. It is better suited for a five year old and means she enjoys learning. Because it is more appropriate for her age she finds more satisfaction when doing the pages by herself. She even pulls it out when friends are over and they will both sit for a good amount of time working on the different activities. Thanks a lot for the fast shipping.

I ordered both items for my daughter who is about entering grade K. The workbook & abacus look absolutely gorgeous, and their quality meets my expectations. My little girl is so excited, and has already taken to completing some of the math and writing exercises. I strongly recommend both items for their quality, and reliable customer service provided by Amazon.
