Mtech USA XTREME MX-8054 Tactical Fixed Blade Knife
Just received the knife today. A bit bigger than I was thinking, but is 11" as stated. Good size for fixed blade knife, much like some KBar knives. The Saw teeth aren't sharp, but the blade itself is rather sharp. The poor box didn't see it coming. Have read that people are unsure of what the various holes are for. I do believe I have an answer for that, but don't bet all your money on me. Having had some training in the application of Knives in self defense, thanks to the military, I would venture to say the holes are for 550 cord. Much like a lanyard that you would use to keep from dropping a knife, or pistol on the ground, you can use it to keep in knife in your hand, which you would want in a self defense situation. So; say you ran some 550 cord through to front finger guard to the back one, then to the bottom, sort of like a very sad sort of protection for your hand, this could, in theory, keep the blade in your hand. Now, say that jimmy-joe-bob (or whom ever) hits your hand hard enough so that anything you would be holding would fall to the ground. A lanyard is nice, but having to waste a few seconds to pick the blade back up is gonna cost most people. Having threaded the cord through all three holes will help to keep it in your hand. As I demonstrated in a few pictures that I have uploaded. As for a self defense knife, the look alone makes it intimidating. I wouldn't use it much for stabbing, but for "hacking". The weight makes it perfect for this; which in turn good for slashing as it would take some force to stop the motion. I'm not saying that it won't stab, just that it may take more force than other knives. The sheath looks to be of good quality, and I love the fact that the securing strap to keep the knife in the sheath is a snap, not Velcro. Just a personal pref. Does come with a leg secure strap. This is more of a down side, as it is kinda short. I'm a lean guy and had to extend it all the way to get it around my leg. Still fits though so not gonna complain much. Just something to watch out for. And as I mentioned earlier about the 550 cord, and what the extra holes could be for; it came with some cord of it's own. By no means is the cord it comes with 550, but could work in a pinch until one does get some 550 cord.

The Huntsman by Mtech USA is a cut above the rest!
This knife is pure badassery at its finest. I've taken it boar hunting in TX, camping several times and even used it (with wonderful results) to skin a groundhog I popped in my backyard. All my friends want one and wonder where I got it. Some knife purists or purchasers/collectors of high end cutlery will tout Mtech USA as being of lesser quality but in my experience they are just as effective a tool as similar offerings from Browning, Gerber, CRKT, Boker and some others. This knife holds an edge well, has great weight, feels very comfortable in the hand and is very eye catching. Great hunting and camping knife. The only drawback to this knife is honestly the nylon sheath included with it. This blade is worthy of a respectable sheath. I love my Huntsman so much that I bought two more. I traded one to a friend who makes kydex holsters for a tek-lok equipped molded kydex sheath for my knife. The knife is awesome but the nylon sheath it comes with is useless for a knife of this size. I recommend getting a kydex sheath made for it. Checkout http://www.valhallacustomkydex.com/knife-sheaths.html for a sheath for this exact blade. I own two of these knives and would buy another in a heartbeat. Side note, the serration on the back of the blade is decorative or could be used as a prying tool but is not a true sawback nor is it edged.

... wasn't sure what to expect from a gimmicky knife like this, but I am very pleased with it
I wasn't sure what to expect from a gimmicky knife like this, but I am very pleased with it. Nice, thick blade, came sharper than I expected.Does a great job chopping and chipping wood. The saw is actually not useless like most knives in this price range.Decent for cutting and slicing, as long as finesse is not needed. The grip/handle is spectacular, even in rain, and well placed grooves for your thumb. Easily my favorite thing about the knife. And of course, tanto is great with piercing or stabbing. Haven't used it for that much, but the tip is sharp and seems like it will be durable enough.Great knife and great price for what you get. A must have if you're into camping or scoring stealthy insta-kills

Decent knife for the money
Purchased just surfing Amazon for a new toy, but needed a knife for working outside on the countless chores around the house. I’m not one to use a knife all that often anyway. The coolness of this knife caught my attention and after viewing many knives and a ton of reviews I hit the “add to cart” button. Love knives and one more is always a good thing anyway. Chinese steel is exactly the best steel in the world so I predict sharpening will be a necessity…. Often (depending on use). Handle isn’t rounded off on edges so comfort while holding is ‘eh. The grind out of factory is, as usual, steeper on one side than the other. The saw just isn’t. I just tested while typing review. In an emergency situation should you find yourself on a deserted island and need to craft a raft, fortunately you would have plenty of time to get the job done. Saw not sharpened at all but hey, looks cool. Can always sharpen I suppose, but why. Out of box, decently sharp. I used a kitchen knife set honing rod, which worked pretty well and also fits into the curved area of blade. To finalize, if you’re a professional who relies on a knife daily at work, for the money, by all means give it a shot, it’s not a whole lot of money plus it’s a great garage knife if it doesn’t “cut it”.For the homeowners out there who dig a useful blade that looks pretty bad a$$, can’t go wrong. Go for it.
